Like Phil Collins, no jacket required.

I agree in theory, but my company is HQ’ed in San Francisco. NO ONE wears a tie out there.
A nice suit and no tie is perfect for an interview or a client meeting.
If I am in our SF office for regular work, I wear jeans and a button down and I feel over dressed.

I don’t get it. One week business casual is jacket no tie, the next week it’s a polo and khakis.
Frick it. Wear a tux and fart in the interview.

If you’re interviewing in the gulf south in the summer, pretty sure no one will care if you dont wear a tie, or don’t have a jacket.
I’d still wear a jacket, and just take it off.

Yet it looks damn good and much better than what most guys 35+ wear which makes them look 75
It only looks acceptable because the model is attractive and fit. It would look incredibly affected on 95% of guys. The clashing of formality between the elements reads like someone who doesn’t know how to dress himself.
IMO, most guys over 35 wear things that make them look 75 because they have the physical fitness of a 75 year old. They could wear anything and their ceiling would be “average” at best.

A nice pocket square has taken the place of the tie.

Fair and agree.
I wore an ascot from time to time when I lived in Germany, but only because I could get away with it out of the US. Reminded me of a Phil Hartman SNL skit.

Bold statement.

Shave the beard. You can bring it back in no time but don’t bring it to your interview.

Always wear a suit.
Typically, yes, but if they specifically tell you that it's "business casual" then you will look like a jack arse who can't take direction and won't fit into the company culture if you show up in a suit.

He’s interviewing in software.... he’s not selling industrial supplies. Both great jobs, but different cultures and dress codes.
For the third time, from a hiring manager who has been in software sales their entire career, wear a suit and no tie or a nice sport coat / pants with no tie. That Is considered “business casual”
Over and out.

It’s pretty silly

There is no clashing of formalities imo. Nice fitted shirt and pants with nice wing tips. Sure the shoes might be a little formal but not much.

Fact and most have terrible taste

Spiked hair, bracelet, pants so tight you can see the line of his boxers, wearing balmorals with a casual outfit, etc. You can tell whoever put the outfit together knows little about men’s style.
Those are brogued wingtips, not balmorals. Significantly less formal, albeit more of an affectation.
Eta: the picture is a bit too blurry to make a true blucher/balmoral call, but the punchline is that he’s wearing a brown brogued shoe, which is the antithesis of formal.

Sport coat, button-down, slacks, dress shoes, no tie

Bus casual has never been polo and khakis.
ETA: I sweat like mofo, so in a situation like this I get there earlier than typical and cool off and become as comfortable as I can. You don’t want to go into the interview uncomfortable just bc you are wearing a blazer and it’s 100 degrees outside.

That is very office-specific. In many offices, khakis and a polo are more than acceptable for business casual. In others, it means dress slacks and button down. I've worked in both environments.

Last office polos and sperrys would be acceptable. New office is slacks, button downs, and maybe a blazer
Both “business casual”
