No they can't....

There's a thing called zoning... Look it up.

So, your working theory is that the person building these apartments is doing it in violation of zoning laws and no one is doing anything about it?!?

Obviously, zoning laws were already considered.

The most shocking thing about spending time on TD is discovering that most of the users are communists. Whether it is CFB/NIL or real estate, most folks around here hate free market capitalism.

Zoning boards are jokes, especially in St. Tammany Parish. They change the zoning all the time.

Yeah, I see it happening in the metro Atlanta county I live in. It was formerly subdivisions with homes on a 1/2 acre or acre, great schools, and reasonable local traffic.

Now they are adding high-density housing, the schools are taking a dive and the traffic is becoming problematic.

Which county?

The corner went to a residential memory care place (better than a convenience store) and the rest was quickly built into a neighborhood.

Had a big expensive independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing place go up in our area that was previously considered for apartments (with a certain percentage low income for tax breaks/grants). Perfect due to no extra stress on the schools, minimal people driving in/out, quiet.

I think the OP apartments are probably going to go to older folks on a fixed income. What percent is allocated low income, 10% or so? Probably nothing to worry about.

These moves are about breaking up conservative enclaves with democrat voters. It's about staying in power plain and simple

Except it's not free market capitalism. It's government-funded section 8. The very antithesis of capitalism.

Try again idiot.

Why is it that any population dense part of this country is an absolute shithole full of crime?

And you're advocating for *more* of it?

They're building a 650 unit apartment complex that will feed into my kids' school district and will include some units for low income. This used to be a semi rural area.

Get tax assessor to asset property taxes on apt complex so high, owner of apt complex wont be able to afford the property taxes. Rent will be so high, only Apts on govt assistance will pay to live there. Once he goes bankrupt, someone comes along and buys it and gets rid of the govt subsidized apts

It's the "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing" legislation that Obama put on steroids, Trump rescinded that and then Biden re-instated.

Here is the wiki entry on it. Andrew Wilkow tears into the Act on a regular basis. It will be used to ruin suburban areas, forcibly alter demographics (incl illegals), expand Federal power and take away local power.

What do you prefer, walkable communities, "walkability" scores and crap like that?

Why is our car centric approach terrible? Why specifically is it terrible to live in a single family home?
