It's a nice place to stop for a break on a long trip. It reminds me of some of those turnpike service plazas in Ohio, except busier and with far more options.

If there was one near me on my commute, I might consider stopping there for breakfast occasionally. I think they would do very well along I-12 or I-10 in Louisiana IF they can find a location with high visibility from the interstate without much competition from other major travel stops like Love's or Pilot (both of which vary greatly in cleanliness by location).

I think somewhere around Rayne/Jennings and another location in Livingston Parish somewhere would work, but they have to find a spot without a lot of trees and high visibility - right along the interstate. Grosse Tete might have worked but that travel plaza out there just expanded massively. Lobdell would work if they could demolish the old Shoney's/Best Western location and build their giant gas station there - Love's is nearby but that interchange is so insanely busy that I think they both would survive well.

Yeah, I said it. This place is the wal-mart of gas stations… a haven for fatties to buy cheap kolaches, 40oz sugar drinks, and candy corn. Their food is god awful, and the whole concept proof that Americans are suckers for a gimmick.

Also, I don’t squat when I pee so don’t care about their clean bathrooms.

The first time I went to one, it had just opened and the gas station was not very clean. But it was still much cleaner than the average gas station bathroom.

Every subsequent visit to any Buc-ee's everywhere....I noticed that the bathrooms were spotless.

There are some gas stations and truck stops that are just as clean as Buc-ee's...but they are not consistent. You don't know if that Pilot or Racetrack at the next exit is a good one or a shitty one until you get there. I give those chains credit for trying. The newer locations are clearly much better and more pleasant than the older ones. Some of the newer Racetracks are legitimately nice and serve decent breakfast sandwiches and really good coffee. But some of the older ones are horribly managed and are filled with sketchy employees and customers.

Another example of inconsistency is Love's Travel Stops. They all have some kind of restaurant attached and a separate section for trucks and cars. But some of the older format Love's locations are far too small to handle the volume of business that they do- to the point where there are parking issues in both sections. By contrast, the newer ones are usually VERY nice, with a lot of space to park even if you are traveling in an RV. The newer ones often have hotels on the property and decent restaurants that are clean and well managed. You don't usually know until you get there, but generally the Love's locations with a Subway or Arby's on the property are the shitty ones. If there's a Wendy's or multiple restaurants, it's usually very nice and might even have a place to walk your dog if you are traveling with one.

With Buc-ee's....you know it's almost certainly good. It's like the Chick Fil A or Raising Cane's of travel stops. You can expect it to be busy, but it's going to be clean, safe, well lit, and will serve satisfying, quick meals. And there will be plenty of safe, clean parking.

Buc-ee's, the convenience-store chain with a cult following

Walking into Buc-ee's was like wandering into a mix of a Walmart, a barbecue-centric deli, and the Texas tourism bureau, plus a dash of the Cracker Barrel general store.

No wonder you guys are obsessed. Sounds like heaven for a dumbass redneck

When every gas station in this country is a nasty cesspit run by Indians or Arabs, Buc-ees is like a Shining City on the Hill

Everything you said was wrong, except that their food sucks. I would not eat their food. It looks good, but it has gotten me sick every time I have eaten there. But their candy, treats, drinks, merchandise are all outstanding and those toilets are so clean.

Ok, where should I stop to get gas, that has better food, and consistently clean restrooms?

It's definitely not a "convenience" store and I'm somewhat bemused by its success and popularity.

People like a spectacle.

I've stopped in a couple of times on the way to Atlanta. They do have first class bathrooms and I love being able to pick up nice beef jerky.

I get the breakfast brisket tacos when I stop at the one by Texas Motor Speedway if I’m
headed to ft Worth for something. It’s a
very clean Wal Mart that sells gas. I shop at Wal Mart too so I guess that makes me trash by definition of OP

Don't think I agree with that. They do very well, and they are consistently clean. But I do think they are large enough and busy enough to lose some convenience points. I still think the concept is a better alternative for drivers than stopping for gas at a regular station during a longer drive, then driving 100 yards to a Wendy's or Chick Fil A to pick up food and use the toilet.

So basically they should locate to areas that are fairly near population centers, but not where gas stations and decent restaurants exist next door to each other already.
