I can't fault them for any of that though. My grandparents had farm dogs. They never went to the vet, because they could buy the shots and treat them themselves. The vet was for emergencies and was forty minutes away.

No tags either but did have collars.

One time the big one came back full of shot gun pellets. One time the other one came back missing a leg.


that was each's first trip to the vet.


Also not that common to spay or neuter farm dogs. Most farm dogs just appear too, it's not like you go out and get them. One day a dog appears, you ask the neighbors, no one claims it, you keep it, or kill it. (my grandparents are hippies and wouldn't kill a dog, but their sadistic neighbors would)

So I think I found where the seven day rule comes from. Now keep in mind the dog had a collar, which is important here.

It's not seven days of getting the dog, but seven days within receipt of notice, which is way longer.

LA R.S. 3:2773

Eta: if the dog was wearing a collar and no written notice was given, then the original owners absolutely have a claim to the dog.

I thought she had just threatened this and had not actually done it. I now see the picture she posted where she is leaving.

I would deprive her of everything she had ever loved.

Seriously. if authorities say it's out of their hands. She would have no camp to come back to on lake Claiborne.

I am not an internet badass.

But if a person took my dog and refused to give her back I would visit them with an aluminum bat and beat them as needed until my dog was in my truck.

So people can't just take the tags and ditch them? Because that is exactly what people do.

It's sad you have to chip your dog to prove the crazy person stole it.

As Billy Madison would say, "you get off your arse and get your fricking dog". Not sure why you're posting on here instead of going to get your dog. I don't even like dogs and I know I wouldn't take shite from people like that.
