The Gramercy Bridge isn't too far down 3127. It sucks and is out of the way but it could be worse.

Maybe this will finally get the state off its arse to 4 lane 3127. Or make a west bank freeway from La 1 at I-10 to I-310.

Could always be worse but it's an extra hour round trip commute (possibly more) for thousands for months?

3 mills drive 1/3 of their crop across that bridge. Spoke with one of my counterparts earlier - they could sure use that bridge right now.

I’m sure this process will be fast and efficient. :sarcasm:

Sure can, time and money though.

Around 750 trucks per day is their estimate - round trip too, full & empty. Being optimistic, 20 minutes extra per trip is 250 extra hours per day spent hauling and that doesn't come cheap.

They'll get through it but will certainly look to reclaim those costs from the party responsible.

Sounds more like an allision than a collision, but maybe I’mjust picky with words.

They can possibly limit liability under the shipowners limitation of liability act, not the Jones act. Don’t know why people keep saying that. And the standard to limit is not gross negligence. The question is whether the owner had probity or knowledge of whatever act or event caused the accident. Limitation is rare.

Nobody is filing a class action for the bridge being out. Under maritime law, there is no recovery for purely economic damages absent physical damage to property. So having to drive around for months isn’t going to get anyone any dollars.

Marquette will have insurance. It will pay the state for the bridge.

The intracoastal in Port Allen. I thought it was really bad before, now it's only worse. Hours to get to Baton Rouge for a commute that should take less than 15 or 20 minutes.

Yeah it could always be worse, but that bridge is now handling a shitload more traffic and was a cluster yesterday afternoon according to a few guys I know.
