I get the culpability of political parties but this is more the result of a lot of people simply leaving reality.

Looks like it was fake news.

Most of the people thusly afflicted, who think a dick makes a man a man and a pussy makes a woman a woman, are of course childish and silly....but they are not small in numbers. One can safely assume MOST of them also proclaim to believe in a god of some sort but of course their actions speak far louder than their words on that subject. It is this public facade of pretending to believe in things they know do exist and that they have the power to define the essence of another human being based on their reproductive organs.

Trans people are 4 times more likely to be the victim of violent crime than the average person in the US. Transpeople are less likely to commit a violent crime than non trans people per capita according to FBI statistics. The idea that trans people are inherently violent is laughable. Do trans people commit violent crimes...yes...because they are people. People, a small number, are violent. People who are subjected to violence become numb to it and are more likely to be violent themselves.
