Bars are bars. If you don't like tobacco smoke I'm sure that there's a coffee clatch somewhere... Maybe at a Starbucks or some other local coffee shop. But bars are- and should always be- where people do their dirty business of smoking and drinking. Bars without smoking are where bureaucrats go to act cool and frick them...
DISCLOSURE- I smoked until 18 months ago. Bars are not restaurants. Smoke away.

Not every bar is some grimy dive

The second hand smoke is hazardous is a foolish notion tonise for bars, even if true. Alcohol is hazardous too. Glad it failed.

Is there no compromise to be had? Here in Fayetteville, which is as "progressive" as just about any city in the south, we have smoking bans in restaurants or bars that make a certain percentage of their income from food, but if a drinking only establishment wants to allow smoking then it's their choice. Are they trying to pass an all out ban on smoking in any indoor public setting?

So let the owners choose what they want to do, right? Seems to me if banning smoking in your bar would be more profitable, you'd ban smoking in your bar. If allowing smoking is more profitable, you'd allow smoking

And then nobody hangs out inside, and the bar makes less money. I have spoken with bartenders, managers
All short sided. There is a hiccup of protest and smokers stay home. But not for long.
Everything goes back to normal. With a patio.

This. I lol at the arguments being made as if they are somehow novel. They have been made in every other jurisdiction where bans have been put into place, and the bars have survived.

Damn. I was really hoping to huddle around a heater with 15 other people during the cold of winter.

Good. Private business owners should decide what goes on inside their establishments

I am talking about longterm. Bars in New Orleans are still affected by the smoking ban. Most of the bars don't have room to add a patio and get in trouble for people talking out front in the wee hours of the morning

“We’re not going away,” Rhodes said, adding that her coalition will make voters aware of which council members “denied thousands of people clean air at work.”
is she going after local refineries also?
Also funny that all those employees have a choice in where they decide to work

How so?

And the people have a choice what bar to go to, but the bar owners don't get a choice
All of you people are hypocritical as frick. You bitch and bitch about SJWs all day long and guess what you are by supporting this ban? That's right, a SJW

Do you know what people go into business for?

No. What could they possibly go into business for? I have absolutely no experience in business-related matters. None at all. Zero. Nada.

You could solve YOUR problem by not going to said venue if you don't like it. It's really very simple.

Yup, quit lying to yourself. Look at what a SJW does, how she does it, and what she stands for

The hysterics about this are funny. You sound like a crying little girl. My point is that all of your arguments have been made before in areas that have passed bans, and bars have survived.
