Good. Private business owners should decide what goes on inside their establishments

Second hand smoke is completely harmless.

It is one thing for someone to not like the smell and not want it around them, but it is not a health risk.

I added on to this as there is no doubt that regulating what goes on in private business can be done if it serves a significant interest of the state.

This smoking ban wasn't a significant state interest and I'm glad it failed.

Give it time.

Like segregation, the ban on women on juries, and legal cockfighting, the right to smoke in bars shall also fall, but Louisiana will defiantly be the last to give in.

I miss cockfighting.

This is debatable but isn't central to the issue.

So with that statement you think it is totally ok for a parent to smoke in a car with the windows all rolled up with their child (that has asthma)...since it's completely harmless??

Not true. Louisiana has seven cities where smoking is banned in bars. There are still states that allow it in all cities.

Even a sketchy, power hungry U.N. agency, the World Health Organization has documented the fact that ETS is harmless.

Yes, the contest for last-to-ban is still underway. I'm betting on a Louisiana city to be the final holdout based on our general obstinance and resistance to the advice of scientists and outsiders. But a lot of smart money is also on Virginia, since they grow so much terbaccy there.

Good. I like to light up a cigar when I go to L'auberge.
