A prayer meeting is in order first. Then, someone can hopefully do a study on the bikes.

The CBD, French Quarter and Uptown/Garden District (at least up St. Charles Ave.) are all kind of easy to bike through. You can pretty much just stay on St. Charles or Magazine St. and hit most of the tourist spots.
Yes, close proximity and they have these cool neat things called bike lanes in the streets, which in BR the truck baws call passing lanes.
You also have the Lafitte Greenway which makes for an easy ride from the quarter to City Park, which itself has a ton of biking areas in and around.
The river and lake have biking areas along them as well.

They'll be stolen. NYC's bike share program from Citi bank is a disaster.

These are cool in cities like San Diego and Denver, but I can't see it being successful in Baton Rouge. Check out this article on the failure of these bike systems in DC and other cities: LINK
I saw heavy use of the bikes in the tourist areas of DC
Also, at the bottom of your article is a quote from a company saying they have lost "less than 1%" of their bikes operating in DC. Gotta give these new companies time to figure out the best way to do business

Whether they're profitable is another story altogether.
Sidewalks and roads aren't "profitable" either. That's the thing about government. It doesn't exist to make a profit.

Gordon McKernan will be putting on extra staff to handle all of the injury claims. Start saving money for your insurance premium increases.

They should do lime bike, dockless and all electric

The problem NOLA is having, isn't so much them being "stolen" or damaged. It's that people aren't returning them to the stations. The program charges an extra $1 if you don't return the bike to a station. So people are just leaving them all over the damn place.
They started a new thing where if you return a stray bike to a station and sign in or whatever, you get a $1 credit on your account.
Also I'm not a fan of the way the Blue Bike accounts are set up. You either pay $8 an hour - by the minute - or you can pay a monthly fee of $15 which includes an hour a day, but you use it or lose it every day.
I think it would be more popular if you could buy a discounted block of minutes/hours and use it as you want.

New way to list Baton Rouge and DOTD as defendants!
How long before one of these gets smashed on Florida?

Baton Rouge is ready to put its nascent bikeshare program into gear.
I don't think there are any vendors stupid enough to want to get involved in this little venture. Thugs will show them real quick what "bikeshare" means in the ghetto.

Let one if the Gang of Four councilwomen pass it on to one of their "minority" vendors if they think its such a great idea.

I'm talking about the bike share company. Obviously they make money on the bids, but eventually you eant it to be self sustaining.

Why would they do this without the bike paths and infrastructure to support? For example, in Denver, you can navigate around the entire loop and surrounding suburbs via bike paths.
Only in BR is a busy road with a white stripe painted 2 feet from the edge considered a bike path. Comparing BR to any modern city in the U.S. is a futile exercise, it is managed by idiots, has always been managed by idiots, and will continue to be managed by idiots.
