I live in the city and am having issues with plumbing / drains getting out this morning. Haven't had issue ever before. Is it possible that the high water everywhere is causing the issue?

In reality it probably is the high water

I've seen two John's raised because of this in flood prone areas. Sewage and drains aren't supposed to be mixed so I guess the water seeps in thru manhole covers in the streets.

Probably the high water. My parents toilets bubble up when the water gets really high and they started doing it Thursday night. No backups though, just "gargling" noises.

Rain water getting into the sewer system through open sewer lines and broken manholes, and flooding the system and throwing the breakers on liftstations. Welcome to everytime it rains in Plaquemines Parish...

Ascension was backed up for about 24 hours...the water in our area has subsided and the toilets now flush fine. I'm guessing high water.

Yup. High water 100%. Happens to me every major rain storm.

Yeah. Having the same problem on Perkins Road. Called a plumber and they suggested I call the city first. City told me the "whole area is having the same problem."

When the washer would drain, dirty water would come up in the shower, sinks, and toilets.

sounds like high water to me...I wouldn't spend any money on it until the water recedes...

For any one else concerned, I asked my neighbors and they were not having issues so I suspected it was me. Called plumber out and they rooted the issue out outside. Likely not a high water issue

This. It's a bad bad issue in my neighborhood. Sewer manholes overflowing with storm water during heavy rains.
