All you losers with such strong opinions about pizza need to grow up and get a life and a palate. It's fricking pizza. There's a reason it's the only food kids will unilaterally eat.

so are you saying my palate is good or needs improving?
im confused

fleur de lis needs to be demolished or completely redone. the place is awful
I don't get why people carry on about how great their pizza is, because there's better pizza across the street. Fleur de lis is one step above little Caesars. Cas only so there's more to it than just pizza.

Neither.

The fleur de Lis hate is confounding
First, I hate cash only. It is 2018.
Second, the owners are well known amongst restaurant workers to treat their employees like trash. Friend worked there years ago and had a customer repeatedly come in and harass her. He'd wait for her at her car at night to "chat". When she told him to screw off, the owners didn't have her back and continued to allow him to come in nightly to harass her. She had to quit.
Third, their soft drinks come in tiny glass bottles. I can't stand when restaurants do this.
Finally and most importantly, last time I went in there, it rained through the cracks in the wall and the floor was covered in yellow mildew towels that smelled like death. It is not a charming hole in the wall. It is a dump.
This isn't my own reason but I've had someone IRL and also seen someone on Yelp mention getting kicked out for someone overhearing them say a curse word at their table. Seems.. strange.

I've never eaten at Fleur De Lis, but it seemed like back in the early 90's people really liked the place. It might be one of those situations where it used to be great and sucks now, but people pretend it is great because they want it to be, like the old days.

Oh, this is definitely what it is. We just had this debate on the F&D Board, except it was about Dixie Maid.
People like to pat themselves on the back for being in the know about their favorte "gem" - hence the dude on pg 1 calling someone a hipster for not liking that dump. But being old or divey doesn't automatically make you good.

F&*^ whoever designed the roads into and around that place. One main entrance and exit for the whole f&*%&*^* thing.
Also, a four lane perimeter road that gets half the use as the one lane 4 way stop in the middle of the damn place.

You don't drag El Cid through the mud like that. El Cid is a god damned LSU icon and cultural establishment, it needs nothing changed.

George’s smells like stale cigarette smoke. That’s what ruins it for me.

The Real Superstore. Place has really gone to shite.

Only went to Pinetta's once, 9 years ago. I remember not liking it because my spaghetti was so watery, but everyone claims it is good so I'll admit maybe it was just a bad plate.
However, I will never know because the place looks like Leatherface is going to greet me when I walk in.

All of this. There are some dives that are excellent, but being a dive does not make one restaurant excellent.
For example:
Raul's is a dive that is good.
Dixie Maid is a dive that is ok.
River Queen is a dive that is excellent.
Downtown Seafood is a dive that is just ok.

BrewBachers in Gonzales needs a major upgrade. Seems dark and has a 1970's feel to it.
I will say though that BrewBacchers was one of he few places to open soon after Katrina and Gustav.

Duvics...although, it has been a while since I set foot in there. I just see the roof of the place, from the interstate, every morning on the way to work and my not-an-expert opinion is that it doesn't look very durable.
It's actually decent inside. Nothing fancy which makes it a favorite watering hole for me.
