Since you brought up Bayou Manchac, the lack of a crossing between I10 and La. 30 is bad. I always thought a crossing connecting to Burbank at the big 90 degree curve would be very beneficial

I thought part of the original loop study had them adding a bridge crossing at Addis and tying back into I-10 just south of Dutchtown.
If they at least did that, more than half of the BR 18-wheeler traffic would be reduced.
Plus, it'd be quality of life improvement for all other traffic to/from NOLA to get to bypass the BR gridlock.

Simple fix for now: Where 110 merges with I-10, you make all traffic heading south on 110 to move over to the far left lane with the 3 foot tall plastic lane dividers. There’s not as much traffic coming from 110 as I-10. Outside left lane for 110 traffic, middle and right lane for I-10 traffic.

That leaves room for both lanes coming off the I-10 exit to easily merge and alleviates the congestion.

There is only a couple of ways to increase the volume of traffic on the interstate, increase the number of lanes or increase the minimum speed(or both). Also there is a judge who has a house on Fiero/Estates St.(right next to the Interstate) who just spent a barge load of money remodeling her house.

My comment about the connection at the Burbank 90 degree curve Inyo Ascension/Iberville was for a surface street to make it more of a grid such that residents in the two parishes could access EBR without getting on 10 or 30.

So it would cross the swamp and connect to Manchac road?

Yes, like Burbank and I would try and route it to Manchac which would have to be straightened and upgraded.

I don’t know if you could get around Spanish Lake to Bluff Road or 74.

My personal belief, and I'm not sure I'm right to be honest, but its more effective long term to build a new bridge south of BR that connects to existing road infrastructure that relieves some of the non city traffic on I-10.

I agree. None of this other stuff matters if we don’t get a new modern bridge with a loop. Everything else is bandaids on a deep wound.

I never see many cars exiting Washington. I don’t think closing that exit would do anything noticeable. Adding lanes will help but we’ll still have bottlenecks.

I was driving down I-10 through San Antonio and when it merges with I-35, in order to stay in I-10, you have to exit and it goes down to one lane, both way.

Boo ruins everything doesn't he?

A comprehensive regional plan is needed, but our mayor chose a Billion dollar parish plan that may or may not integrate well with the plans the state comes up with.

Yeah, but some road you never heard of in Zachary needs that $10,000,000 and the governor needed that LSU Lakes boost to win the election.

I come through that stretch all the time. I never see anyone taking the Washington Exit. Especially now that the new exit is open. Washington Exit is not a problem.

I-10 goes down to one lane in San Antonio.

Please stop spreading this lie.

Can you show me the frontage roads to divert heavy traffic to on the BR Bridge like San Antonio has?

Many, many solutions are available to fix the congestion.
The real problem is none of them make all the people happy all of the time. For that reason, several iterations of politicians have failed to agree to fund ANY plan.

Back in the good old days this is how it worked:

- Politicians funded roads.
- Engineers planned and designed roads.
- Local opposition was told to frick off.
- Property owners were paid for their land.
- Road built.

It would be impossible to build the Interstate system now with all of the pandering required now.

Architects are good at coming up with a parking lot layout then having to be told by an engineer that it will only work if you limit the use to only smart cars or a yugo.

Why are we listening to an architect about traffic?

I like how the architect made a pretty specific price tag for his proposal.

“Needs to be much cheaper that the state proposal, but I have no basis - I’ll say it costs 20% as much. So, 20% of 380M - hmm, that’s 76M. Eh, I should 1M to that, you know, overhead. So, 77M.”
