Only makes sense if you make him work some really terrible manual labor job like digging ditches or cleaning barges for a year at 50 hours a week. Because the kid will be thinking about that every single day of college. That would have actually helped me back in the day.

How in the actual frick have we come to a place in society where this is really part of our vernacular

I agree with you. Seems strange to me that kids have normalized this.

Y'all are wild. It's a great idea. You only live once, what's the hurry to go do 4 more years of school then sit in a soul crushing office for 40 years?

Definitely have the party at your camp and bring a few strippers over when you aren’t hunting/fishing.

Best legit idea. Everyone should get together and get him a set of ryobi tools and batteries. They'd last him a long time and be infinitely useful.

When I started college, my aunt Nora and uncle John invested in my future. They brought me to get measured for a blue blazer, pants, and shoes. They allowed me to live in their home for my freshman year. Every Sunday we attended a church service.

My aunt and uncle provided me with an education opportunity as long as my grades were good and I stayed out of trouble.

When I die, what’s left of my IRA will go back to my university to help a student attend college.

Get him some cook ware that will last a lifetime, but doesn't require much maintenance. A Le Creuset enamel frying pan or Dutch oven would be good.

You could pair this with cooking lessons; either with you or from a professional.

I would suggest a nice chef's knife, but he probably isn't mature enough for one and could easily ruin it. Same for regular cast iron, requires care that a 17 year old probably won't give.

Just looking for ideas here...

considering most boys are watching porn at the age of 5 or 6, get him good looking high end strippers and lots of alcohol.

there is just way too much fentanyl around mixed into everything to risk trying to get some blow
