Not trying to be cool. I've gotten a jaywalking ticket before and now realize it's a serious crime.

The underlying cause of this situation was a Border Patrol agent running across the street and shoving a woman who was acting lawfully. Full stop.
But FAFO; Marxists; amirite?

No, seriously. I once got a jaywalking ticket. On a closed street. During a pro bike race.
Ever since then, I learned my lesson.

And then what happens?
The us allows a citizen to use reasonable means to stop illegal acts of law enforcement.

The guy unfortunately was the catalyst to the entire tragic event

The catalyst was an ICE agent illegally assaulting a woman who was doing absolutely nothing illegal Blowing a whistle and filming from across the street is not illegal in America. Using force to stop and legally protesting American is illegal
I’m going to call this one shared blame.
I think the agents absolutely handled this poorly and escalated this to a place it likely would not have gone, but for their actions. I get the tensions are high there; I get it’s a highly stressful atmosphere. Government agents should still be held to a higher standard than the citizenry. Had it not been for the seemingly unnecessary escalation of that situation by the agents, that man would likely be alive today.
What’s true at the same time is this guy brought a concealed firearm into a situation where it was reasonable to expect he might have interaction with armed LEOs in a charged atmosphere. He has the right to own and carry the firearm. He had every right to be there, to disagree with what the agents were doing, and to protest. But just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. His decision to bring the firearm into that situation was not a wise one and is a big part of the reason why he is now dead.

Police don’t swarm like that unless there is an obvious trigger.
These people clearly aren’t adequately trained like police

SlowFlowPro
Does the level of resistance matter? Obviously if you’re very successful in your resisting and get good position and a gun flashes you might get shot.
But in a case like this, where resisting is extremely mild, what is the deal with carrying?
I can’t read “he was carrying and then..” anymore without more context.

I read that and think you are the type to tell a girl she deserved it because of how she was dressed.

I think I'm catching on now. If an officer unlawfully escalates a situation, any response to that becomes illegal resistance itself. There is no amount of force that an officer can apply that warrants resistance, verbal or physical, because then that would justify the officer using deadly force.

That is a clever way of saying made contact with a federal officer and interfering with a federal officer doing his job.

Are "shoving down ladies who are filming" on his list of job duties?

We’ll let a jury decide if shoving people over curbs is his job

Yep
It is easy to tell, in this thread, who is trained in firearms and have carried.
The very first thing, and I mean the very FIRST thing, you learn is not to put yourself, needlessly, in a situation that can escalate unless you have to kill someone.
Cops know this, military is trained this way: so when they see someone acting like a fool and resisting while carrying - they are going to ASSUME that person has the worst intentions and is willing to kill.
LARPERS don’t understand carrying a gun isn’t a game.
With all that said, there ARE cops who overreact as well.

Maybe. I don’t know what happened prior to this.

All of these situations are case by case and, sadly, heavily dependent on the LEO's purported conceptualization of the scenario.
Our criminal justice system and the legal framework around it are HEAVILY slanted towards protecting the state/LEO at the expense of citizens.

You’re missing the narrative.
We dive into the frame by frame analysis when a leftist gets shot in a city where elected politicians are instructing the populace to resist….from the comfort of our lounge chairs.
But when Ashley Babbit…an unarmed woman….gets shot and killed the brave officer was defending Democracy and gets a commendation.
