Back in the old days I worked at a chain grocery store. I stocked the frozen food section. If the door got closed behind you there wasn't a way to open the door. I always put a 5 foot section of angle iron down so that door couldn't be closed. My biggest fear was that some idiot co-worker would think it was funny to close me in and then twiddle dee forget about it.

Any chance it was an employee that accidentally locked themselves in?
I'm just baffled as to how that would go undiscovered in an open and operating restaurant. I can see someone locking themselves in accidentally though...

I have NEVER seen or heard of a major fast food chain restaurant that was being run entirely by just one person... no matter how slow it was... and during PM drivetime? Not buying it.

It's been over 25 years since I worked in a restaurant. It's baffling that you still can't open so many from the inside.
