Blue collar guys and gas stations?
The fact you said this..
Hard work requires calories and a lot of those guys don't have the time or the means to prepare five full days worth of food in advance. Some of them probably already had breakfast, but they are stocking up for the day ahead.
And on their way out, they probably had a good laugh at the sniveling little man with female hands gawking at them while pumping gas into his Prius.

OTers have some of the weirdest observations and takes in life...

There's that lack of critical thinking and financial acumen we're talking about.
In the amount of time tradies spend getting wasted on a Sunday watching sportsball, they could easily meal prep for the week, at a quarter of the cost of what they blow at gas stations.

Unfortunately they have to call Prius guy “sir” because they made Cs in high school

I can to pop into HEB, grab a protein shake, self check out, and done in seconds vs waiting behind someone choosing their lotto tickets, walking the cashier through the cigarette or snuff selection, or trying to pay cash and find exact change, etc.

I think C's is being generous.
I'm more interested in why these "manly men" are checking out other men, and thier hands.

Most of the time, gas stations have amazing hot breakfasts. Also...cigarettes and a lot of them open before your little HEB's. Blue collared workers tend to work farther from home so an early stop is necessary.

Convenient Store
They go in and get a snack and drink while they’re pumping gas. One stop shop.

Naked Bootleg is looking for men in the truck stop bathroom

BabyTac = Wrex. . .
Did you make an alter and a thread so that the alter can agree with your unpopular hot take? Do you ever see blue collar workers walking around HEB?

My only alters are PortHudsonPlaya and HumbleTac. First is banned (can’t remember why) and the second was a shot at Chicken for trying to slow me down.

Why do you think they are in the trades? If they had their shite together, planned ahead, etc they likely wouldn’t be.
FWIW, if you are seeing them often times it’s their second stop of the day for an early lunch or nicotine as their first was before 7am on their way in.
It’s also a good spot to take a shite as many of them don’t have a bathroom on site they can use.

I'm not hating on people in the trades, but this discussion is why the "you can own your own business in the trades" arguments are failures.
A very, very small % of people in the trades have the intellectual capacity, temperament, and discipline to operate a successful trades company.
Most of those people in that small population probably would have been better off going to college and using those traits in a more lucrative business field.

Because of the advice you’ve given me on driving 15 year old vehicles with 300k+ miles I now have the extra money to spoil myself with a beef jerky, crispito, and 20 oz Dr. Pepper gas station breakfast. Sometimes I even go in there to buy a gallon of milk in the evenings just to show off my financial superiority to the other patrons.

OP clearly has never had a slice of good gas station breakfast pizza.
