One commenter said it should be illegal to own a house unless you live it or rent it out. No "investment" property!
There must be a new definition of "investment property" out there. I always considered my rental property as an investment. I guess there are some speculators buying rundown places in Bywayer and just sitting on them until the market conditions are right for them to sell or renovate and sell.

there was a time when i thought new orleans really was this jewel of a city. it didn't take long to see it for what it really is...a dirty, dilapidated, corrupt, crime-ridden mess.

Couldn't agree more.
It's a major shithole. And I can't defend it anymore. I'm born and raised, but it's nothing like what I grew up in.
It's got the same vibe as Austin, or some other trendy shithole that's worried about what people think.
The best part about New Orleans of old was the IDGAF attitude. Now it's just a bunch of fat SJW's running around posting pics of their shitty overpriced seafood poboys on Instagram.

Tyler Gamble, an NOPD spokesman, said that with two competing claims of ownership, there was nothing the officers who first responded to the scene could do. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
"If we are able to obtain enough evidence, they could face criminal trespassing charges," Gamble said.
NOPD is using all available manpower to find the missing evidence on inspection stickers around the city.

it hurt to finally admit to myself that nola wasn't as great as I once claimed it was. I'm at the point where I'm actually really excited about moving out of LA.

It's definitely not for everyone but I would never leave my city. It's too ingrained in my DNA even with all it's faults.

Yeah. It pains me to say it.
I couldn't fathom living there. I have a cousin that left in the early 90's. He said he got out of the car to put some blockbuster tapes in the slot, and realized it wasn't safe to leave his daughter in the car for 10 seconds....and that it was time to go.
At the time I thought he was just paranoid. Now I realize, frick that standard of living.
Not worth it.
The shite with Mitch and all these frickin scumbag hipsters and carpetbaggers just seals the deal. New Orleans isn't even New Orleans to me anymore.

How is this not Unauthorized Entry and Remaining While Forbidden, at the very least?

Someone may have done this already in this thread, but I Googled the guy's name and the house number, from the pics/article.
The address is:
3404 N RAMPART ST
NEW ORLEANS
Here are the tax records, which apparently were insufficient for the dipshit cops: LINK
I don't have a stupid password for the online deed records search system, but if one of you does, just search by address and pull the recorded deeds. Why couldn't a cop do this?
LINK
I can pull that much info from a street number and guy's name, in a matter of seconds, having never seen the house, no government position, 100s of miles away.
Lazy-arse cops could confirm ownership in seconds. What's the freaking purpose of our system of deed recordation if not??? WTF?

If I'm the owner, I kill everyone of them. When the police show up, you tell them they broke into your property and attacked you. You show the legal deed to the home. Nproblem solved.

Turns out some dude was running a scam renting vacant homes. He would change the locks, take a deposit and first months rent and disappear. Several homeowners had to formally evict renters who held (bogus) leases.
People amaze me. That's a lot of time and risk for one months rent and deposit. Not to mention being a piece of shite and possibly leaving people homeless. Just get a job.

May be a good time to have the house tented for termites.

The fact that this cannot be quickly resolved by the police says a lot about how government works in NOLA.
