I can't believe they were able to hole up for 11 days without leaving. This was clearly planned well in advance if they were able to save up that many personal days at work.

Verdicee Hampton Golson started this up in Northeast Louisiana back in the 80's or early 90's before the feds forced her to hole up in Franklin Parish. Printed her own license plates, even saddled up with some white extremists from East Texas. Former mayor of Richwood.
I remember that. That chick was batshit crazy.

Walk in house.
Dump one gallon of bleach on the floor.
Dump one gallon of ammonia.
Walk out.

I haven't read this thread but has someone pointed out the irony in them ignoring the laws and "stealing" a home yet their signs state it is unlawful and a federal offense to ignore that according to laws it is private property?

Turns out some dude was running a scam renting vacant homes. He would change the locks, take a deposit and first months rent and disappear. Several homeowners had to formally evict renters who held (bogus) leases.
Happens all the time. I have contractors working for me that have come across it in the vacant homes we manage for banks.
Still not as good as the pot growing factory one of my contractors found in an abandoned house in Syracuse not long ago though.

Would have been funny if either the true owner used the legit paperwork, or someone else drew up some fake deed and just walked up in there. What would the squatters do? Call the cops?

More like vigorously cleaning the kitchen floor.
