Black History Month: Mandela, Apartheid, Ellison + Epilogue

Part 7 of 8
William Ellison
Apartheid
Mandela
EPILOGUE part 8 of 8
I want to use this last part as a reflection of what I have learned. Making these threads has made me realize how blessed I am to live in a time where I have the same rights and general opportunities as others.
I am proud to be a Black American. I understand the hardships that my ancestors have undergone and I refuse to tarush their sacrifices with slothful behavior and haphazard destruction.
I know many of you are racist. I also acknowledge that some of you dislike the content of my threads. Despite this, I respect your right to have your own bias and opinions. As an American, I think we can at least respect our basic constitutional rights.
This started as a selfish project for my own personal journey. What does it mean to be a modern black in America and how do my actions shape my destiny?
But as I learned more history, I discovered that it should be shared. I think that Blacks need to find self motivating fervor, and continue to show the world that we are an upstanding, diligent, and progressive group of people.
For those of you supporting this, thank you.
Special thanks to Chicken for not whacking these threads.

Never knew that Nelson Mandela was an African-American. I always thought he was South African.

I didn't know Black History Month covered histories and events that didn't occur in America.
Maybe next week you can do a piece on the genocide in Rwanda.

Do you really view Mandela as some sort of hero?

Where in the OP did it state Mandela was an African-American? It's called BLACK history month, not african-american history month. But I know, you wanted to be clever.

He was a terrorist before he went to prison.

black slave trade started in Africa. I'd say that's a pretty big defining moment in black history. some of you try so hard to be clever.

It's quite possible that some african-americans share the same ancestors as africans. Where does it say black history month is regulated to just America?

Great thread.
I always thought a renaissance of black college football would be tremendous. I wouldn't be shocked if in a few years, we start seeing 3 star and 4 star recruits trickle back down into the swac, MEAC. If morehouse and Tuskegee could get up to D1AA status, that would be very attractive option to many young athletes.
That would bring more alums back to the schools, more money back to the schools, more TV contracts, etc.
