Bellingham was pretty liberal but it's a college town so to be expected. I spent summers there at 19 and 20 and the women liked my accent which I thought was barely noticeable. I had a blast in my time there.

It's the same with Portland and Oregon. Drive south from Portland into the Willamette Valley and it feels more like mid-western farm country than the PNW. Farms, pickup trucks, tractors, and baws as far as the eye can see.
