That's not to say they wouldn't send to public if they were in a good school district. What do you think gave rise to the boom in AP and LP. The meth and swamps?

I don’t think people are realizing how much this is going to affect Ascension and Livingston. The majority of their population commutes to BR everyday for work. Now those people will have a good public school option much closer with an easier commute to work.

The good news is they still have enough old white people to fund smaller scale projects in NBR.

A city is not an automatic for getting a school district. I don't see how the school district can win the whole parish with only 54% support from ST. G.

Central only got their district 52-48 and that was pre-Katrina demographic change and with 90% support in Central.

With your generous donation of $5000 in tax dollars, you can ensure than Shaniqua can take her five pit bulls to the dog park off Plank.

Reading through this thread shows how stupid people are about:

- What the vote did yesterday.
- What motivates homebuyers.
- What the demographics are of certain BR neighborhoods.
- What trends have existed in certain neighborhoods mentioned.

Skip, who doesn’t live in St George, did a bunch of PSAs pushing people to vote against St George on BS reasons.

This didn’t happen in a vacuum.

That's an understatement considering the city literally has zero to do with the school system, legally speaking. The deseg court order that Central and Zachary had to adhere to has been over for 12 years. SG organizers know this but count on the ignorance of voters.

Obviously. SG + Central + Zachary = 30% of the parish's population and they can't even get a supermajority there to agree.

Well, neither catholic nor st joes are in the EBR diocese, so there’s that.

If we’re going to play technicalities around the Diocesan schools...there’s no such thing as the EBR diocese.

BRPD can’t afford the pensions without layoffs. It’s the pensions, not the salaries. They gonna have to make deep cuts. Anyone with less than 7 years better have a Plan B. Ascension and Livingston are hiring if you live there. Or if you have 20 years a buyout is likely.

Seems like half of BRPD lives in Livingston Parish. All they'd have to do is enact a requirement to reside in EBR.

I'm not even sure why we're talking about laying off at BRPD though. The city of BR pays for it and will continue to do so.
