I have a feeling there is probably an old building in the stretch of Airline near Old Jefferson which could be used.
That would put it about dead center in the middle of the new city.
News last night had the old Rite Aid at the corner of O'neal and George O'neal.
That's fine with me. Airline Hwy. would be good also; however, its a higher rent district.

If the idiots in EBRP government had just giving the SE area of EBRP a new public school a few years ago when they requested it, none of this this shite would have happened.
What good would that have done? DOJ would have been all over that... especially that DOJ with that guy who was president.
Many of the problems attributed to our shitty local governments were caused by our shitty federal government.

Except this thread has nothing to do with Baseball or Skips impact on LSU. Try to keep up

St. George needs to make the ISD their main focus, otherwise what was the point of all this.
I agree, but they have to prove they are capable and to do that they need to make the city go in a professional manner.
No hi jinks, controversy, or anything that isn't above board and out in the open. Transparency is a must.
The first mayor has his/her work cut out as does the initial council. They will be laying the foundation of a fairly large city. The whole parish and state will be watching.

Given the size of the city involved, I think big chunks of the nation will be watching too.
Most new incorporations aren’t around 80,000 citizens.

Ok. But I guess you still have to build out a city infrastructure. It’ll be interesting to watch. I don’t live in B.R. so I don’t have a stake in it, but it does seem like there will have to be a period of pretty serious capital expenditures.
It's no different than any other city that incorporates. I don't think anyone can expect the new city government to be up and running fully on day 1. There still is, more than likely, months of litigation to get through before day 1 can even happen so there should be ample time to figure out some of the logistics.

Very few people are gonna pull their kids from private and parochial school when/if St George gets a school system. Just look at the kids and scores now at Woodlawn Middle and High School. Those kids aren’t leaving if a new school system happens.

That was the biggest lie I've heard yet. No politician would ever suggest such a thing, it would be political suicide. Quit drinkin the Union Kool-Aid

Those people were in “Baton Rouge” the same way a MTF transsexual is a female.
You can call it whatever they want but it doesn’t change facts.
Chopping off your dick doesn’t make you a woman and calling an unincorporated area part of a city doesn’t make it part of that city.

Redemptorist was declining for years before Central got its own schools. Recruiting athletes for sports started the decline there.
And Central was getting a lot of kids from the Prescott area in their schools. When the city boundaries formed it ended that practice.

My guess is that Zachary schools started the decline for RHS and Central finished it off.

I thought Central Private would be gone by now too but they are building a new campus

Comparing the St George school district to Zachary and Central really isn’t wise. Those 2 are small systems with a few schools. St G will be one of the larger school systems in the state if it becomes reality.

True, but it was certainly a major blow to the situation.

I’m not comparing them directly. I am just pointing out that Zachary and Central were two large schools before the school districts split off from EBRPSS (4A sized) and doing so bled off enough students to kill Redemptorist, which was pretty much the only private school of any reputation in NBR.
Redemptorist went from a 4A enrollment down to a low 1A enrollment in a few years as the number of students coming from north of BR started dropping.
