Baytown and Mont Belvieu is a lil less than hour from the Galleria

Not close to the Galleria area, but I lived in the poor man's Friendswood...aka Alvin. Wasn't too bad but I probably wouldn't have stayed in Alvin had we had kids.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd live North of Houston and just drive to JSC...I really wanted to look at the East side of Houston....Baytown etc...that way I'd be that much closer to La to go home for hunting/fishing.

Yea, nice clean areas with low crime, great schools, great jobs, a functioning local government and low cost of living. Crazy to think people would like all that.

If he is working in the galleria from Katy. He'd be better off taking westpark
The OP said he was working at Galleria. Somebody else asked about commuting from Katy to Energy Corridor. Which you could still take westpark and pay the tolls depending on how far south in the energy corridor you're going.
Here is the truth about Westpark and Katy freeway. If you can get on either before 6 AM, you will have none or very little traffic heading to the Galleria area. now in the evening, that is a completely different story. If you leave the Galleria at 4ish or later, it is a parking lot all the way headed west.

We moved to Rosenberg about a year ago. Work inside 610. Drive in isn't that bad if you leave early enough. Wife and I work in the same building so we take the HOV as well. We love it out here.

Rosenberg has really grown in the last 5 years. Pretty soon it will connect to Greatwood. Once they finish widening 59 to Rosenberg, that should ease the bottleneck at 59/99

I hear the housing market around Hobby Airport is really nice this time of year.

That's almost anywhere. I take 249 to 8, to 290, to 610 to get to the Galleria from the Woodlands (only 1 toll). Even 290 is empty if I get on the road before 6. Afterwards, you're taking a big risk. Sometimes it's not even that bad a little later in the morning, but sometimes it's a nightmare. I've found traffic from Katy is pretty much always bad at peak hours, and horrible on some days. Same can be said about 45 though. Luckily I rarely have to drive either.

And Greatwood will officially be part of Sugar Land city limits in December of this year. With Rosenberg growing out as well, SL-Rose-Rich is going to be like a city of nearly 200k.

Only way to ensure it doesn't take that long is leaving at about 5:30.
Holy crap, I live in Katy and work by the Galleria, I leave between 6-6:15 and I am at work in 30-35 minutes using the westpark tollway. I leave about 3:30 in the afternoon and I am home a few minutes after 4:00.

Are you sure? I know there's a large contingent on this site who are anti suburbs and think that we should all move to the ghetto to prove a point.

What I dislike is the area that claims Richmond. I have a Richmond address, but Im literally 10-12 miles from dt Richmond and only 1 mile from Cinco/Katy.

I thought Greatwood was getting annexed to Richmond. Thats what I heard from friends who live in there.

Your friends in Greatwood don't read the paper or the monthly publication... or read the constant complaining on the subdivision's Facebook page.
It'll be part of Sugar Land by the end of the year. Whether that's actually a good investment on the part of SL City Government is certainly debatable.
