I used to live in Greatwood in Sugar Land. It's a great community but I had to move closer to work in the Energy Corridor. That commute was killing me and it's only like 20 miles one way.

Katy's only 20 minutes away if you want to go to that water park.

lol I haven't been but I don't think it's gotten very good reviews. I've lived in both areas and I got bored with the restaurants, bars, parks etc in SL. There's just a lot more for me to do on the West side but I'm single with no kids. The OP might feel differently. To each their own I guess.

How does cypress/bridgeland compare to Katy?

Similar commutes to city center/energy corridor area?

Cypress is pretty nice. Great schools, cheaper property tax. Some very nice communities and amenities. The traffic situation commuting to and from cypress would be really bad. 290 is always an absolute clusterfrick and sometimes they just close it randomly. They are widening it from the beltway to 99 which will fix that problem when it's finished.

No, Katy is a lot closer and an easier commute to the Energy Corridor. Traffic on I10 coming from Katy can be bad if there is a wreck but it generally moves.

If he is working in the galleria from Katy. He'd be better off taking westpark

Probably Sugar Land. We live in Pearland and used to make the commute to the Galleria. It wasn't terrible, but with the widening of 288 underway, it is probably a pain now. At least there were multiple routes to get there albeit one is out of the way.

Just get accustomed to driving 20-30 miles, each way, in about 45 minutes or so. Yeah, shite happens and sometimes it takes longer, but that's fricking every city.

Katy sucks. 290 sucks. 249 is OK sometimes. The Woodlands isn't much farther than Katy. Kingwood is far. Sugar Land has a bunch of Indians/Asians. Everything inside the Beltway is overpriced. Inside 610 is even more overpriced.

Welcome to Houston.

I still contend traffic moves better in Htown than in BR given the size of each cities population.

We moved here last summer. Live just outside The Woodlands and work downtown. Family enjoys the area so far.

Agreed. The problem in Houston, on I45 at least, is all the overpasses. All the stupid shite birds assume there is a broken down vehicle on the backside of the overpass, which they can't see, so they decide to slow down to 40 god damn MPH, to just be safe. Every single time on 45 S, right next to Gallery Furniture, it's 'tarded.

Westpark is a gamechanger for that commute similar to Hardy if you live in The Woodlands and work downtown

The OP said he was working at Galleria. Somebody else asked about commuting from Katy to Energy Corridor. Which you could still take westpark and pay the tolls depending on how far south in the energy corridor you're going.

I worked near the Galleria and lived in Spring, north of 1960 just off Kuykendahl Road. House prices were reasonable, a lot of activities. Was about a 45 minute commute in the morning and about an hour back home in the evening.

Yea Houston has the infrastructure to support the population with very little traffic. With the exception of a few interchanges and road work, Houstons traffic is mostly created by the drivers. And there is always a POS vehicle broken down or out of gas in the middle lane during rush hours.
