Amazing numbers. GM building over 60,000 trucks alone each MONTH (3000ish a day) is simply incredible. That doesn't include all of their other vehicles (6.8 million per year total with trucks). They're not building little coffee makers....these are complete vehicles.
You know what's even more amazing?
In 1965 Chevy sold 1,046,514 Impalas. In a much smaller market than today. Still the best selling single year car ever.

Hard to believe Ford outsells Ram in the all of the western states. Places like Utah, Wyoming, Montana, etc seems like there are more Rams then anything else combined some places.
I agree. Dodge, for better or worse, seems to be the most popular truck here in Oregon. I have a hard time believing this is accurate.

I haven’t Googled or researched this topic lately but it’s kinda hard to believe this one report saying GM is outselling Ford because Ford has been the top selling truck for like 40 years in Texas and pretty much nationwide. One of the last reports I did read showed Ford outsold the next competitors by 200,000 vehicles, so that’s not really even close.
I’m a Chevy driver and have only owned one Ford but after my last 2020 Chevy Silverado purchase, this may very well be my last Chevy, it turns 2 years old next month and has already been in the shop for 4 recalls, compared to my 2008 Avalanche which just turned 241,000 and has never been in the shop since I bought it, so something has pretty drastically changed about some of GM’s quality production.

The only one that was close was the F-150. I bought the 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn and love it.
Same here, Darth. I have a 2021 Laramie 4x4 with the off road package and the Ecodiesel. I drove one of the new Ecoboosts in Colorado/Wyoming. It drove and road well, but my Ram is more comfortable and gets better mileage.
I've owned a Tundra, and they suck too much gas. The new one may remedy that, but they still won't get 28 mpg through the Texas Hill country with the cruise set on 82 mph. My truck did!

Those of us in the mountains know a Tacoma is the most practical truck for off roading or being on forest roads in the mountains. Good luck fitting an F250 on a mountain pass.
Preach.
I have land deep in the Ozarks, and there is now way I could get a Silverado through my switchbacks without risking life. And when you encounter the rare oncoming vehicle on a narrow mountain road, it’s nice to be nimble.
So the main redeeming quality of the Tacoma is that it is small....... Gotcha.
Those of us who want actual full-sized trucks will continue to Silverado.

just don't see how this can be true. If it is, what's a Tundra? Also, if so, Chevy/Ford/Ram must be 1/2 ton+.
The soon to be redesigned Tacoma and the newly released Tundra are going to share the exact same frame. The size of the body will be the difference.
So I can see how you could say a Tacoma is a 1/2 ton with a different sized body.
The new global Toyota frame is going to be the new platform for a bunch of different models in the future.

I've always wanted to see these numbers with fleet and government purchases removed. Then you could see what average consumers are choosing.
Ford and GMC sell a bunch to the government or fleet buyers.

I dont think it would matter much. Ram sells as assload of fleet vehicles as well.

Here in farming and ranching country everyone drives an F150.
I drive a Silverado.
My friend who owns a body shop and is a car aficionado in general said Ram is the way to go for reliability, longevity, and resale right now.

Whats your point. Tacoma is a midsize and that's one of its best features for a ton of people that live in cities, go far off road, or dont need a full size. Did you just figure that out that its a midsize?
Pro tip, if you need a full size truck dont look at a Tacoma.
I'm patiently waiting for my local dealership to get a new Tundra. I can't wait to test drive one and see the redesign.

How many of these are fleet vehicles.

I have a 2008 Silverado with 240,000 miles and still going strong.
For a lot of GM shortcomings they do make good trucks. The only thing that ticks me off about the silverado I bought out of school, it was a 2012 and that was the one year they decided to experiment with no cabin air filter. Like what idiot came up with that idea?

GM splits sales between two models (Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra). All of Ford’s sales are a single model (Ford F Series). Thus….GM is the market leader for pickup trucks because they sell more pickup trucks than all other companies including Ford. But Ford F series is still the top selling truck model.

I agree. I mean, the Ridgeline is clearly the best pickup on the market now for most buyers.
But the Silverado we used to own was awesome, and lasted far longer than any other vehicle we’ve had since. We put around 200,000 miles on it, and it didn’t need anything other than the factory recommended maintenance. A lot of people say that American cars are not very good, but our old Silverado was every bit as reliable as our Accord and Highlander. It was actually better than our Outback.
We would absolutely buy one again if we needed another pickup truck. In all likelihood, we will get a diesel Tahoe soon, which shares a lot of parts with the Silverado.

Not for sale in the US but Toyota builds the shite out of Hiluxes internationally…
I wish they sold them here. I had a gen 2 Hilux and it was pretty indestructible. I have a gen 1 Tundra now and it wants to run forever. I think Toyota is planning on releasing an EV Hilux in the States at some point.

Something like that.
Toyota is consolidating all of their trucks to one platform that can be stretched or widened as needed depending on the application. Tundra, 4Runner, Sequoia, Hilux, and Land Cruiser are all moving to their TNGA truck platform.
Most importantly…this means they can build any of those models at any of their truck plants depending on demand.

I have noticed a lot of tundras, honestly. Nobody has dodge. I can’t think of one.
