Best rugged men’s wristwatch?

I’ve been wearing a garmin fenix 5 and it keeps dying on me periodically. It’s trash and i dont have the patience to go through garmins warranty process (if it’s even covered). I’m not too keen on smart watches, so I’d like to go back to a regular analog/digital. I’ve worn Casio before but they only last me about 4-5 years before they give out. I need a watch that will take a beating. Please, don’t give me the “just use your iPhone” advice. I coach football and use my wristwatch bc I’m always holding playsheets and other shite while I’m on the sidelines. I’d like to keep the price under $500, so OT....whatcha got?

Can't beat the old G-Shock. It is cheap, reliable and unbreakable.

---That's a long time for a watch that needs to be rugged.
G-Shocks are still your best bet. Under $100 (depending on style), so if it dies after a few years, no big deal.

I've worn this same Lumi-Nox for the last 18 years or so.. Only thing I had to change was the bands and battery of course.

GShocks are the best, plus if it dies take it in and have the battery changed and good to go.

Tried and true is Casio of which I have 4, but currently sporting a Garmin as well and I've never liked the GUI of the Garmin although the watch is super lightweight and durable.

Yeah, I have an old G Shock Pathfinder I still put on. Was 300.00 20 years ago but still worth every cent. Temperature and barometer still are dead on and it's solar powered. Indescribable. Err, indestructible.

My last one lasted 10+ years with daily wear. I actually wore the metal band thin where it rubbed on paper while I was writing.

I have 2 Garmin's the fenix 3 and 5. they are good watches but they do not stand up to the abuse I can dish. I wear them to work and around town.
Last year I got the SUUNTO TRAVERSE. This is my hunting/ field watch. It appears that they quit making these specific model but I was blown away with the toughness of this watch. I have took it through the ringer out in the field. From brushing duck blinds to skinning deer and just being in the marshes and swamps.
My next watch to replace my Garmin will be the Suunto 5 or 7.

I got my first G-Shock when I was about 17 in high school like the one below. I think it cost something like $30 in 1987. It was a great watch. I had for at least 15 years. Great watch.

There was a thread on these recently and as a result I bought 1 for myself. My son saw it and liked it and he bought one as well. In the thread, the guys that had them had good things to say. I like it so far and its priced reasonably for what you get. Link below:

If you want an ana-digi I will avoid a lot of other options.

I am curious how they "give out" the G-Shock line is about as durable as you get.
My current suggestion for a tough ani-digi would be the new Casio G-Shock GM2100 series metal covered. I think they look a lot better than the rubber armored ones and run about $200 so even by your 4-5 years that should get you 10 years for your $500.
They are also available in other colorways.
