If you are seriously gonna move the stadiums, ie build new stadiums in the area- then the only correct choice is to move them to (relatively) higher ground and where the population is moving- Build them in Covington or even a little further north…. LOTS of room to build whatever you want, far less prone to flooding and hurricanes (though not 100% immune)- and less of a chance of opportunistic crime following than if you built on Airline in Metairie .. and plenty of pro teams have stadiums far from the metro center, look at the newish Levi Stadium for example , it’s i think over an hour from San Francisco .

Will not happen any time soon because this takes leadership. NOLA has to rot and go away before new leadership is possible. This may take 100 years.

The state is not going to fund a billion dollar+ stadium if voters statewide have anything to say about it. If they do, the rest of the state deserves their crappy schools, bridges and roads.

This is probably the best idea yet. Right in-between the street recreation and restaurants in NOLA and the airport. Plus you get the security of JPSO.

nothing is logistically feasible about not having the stadium downtown tied with the economics of the hotels and the quarter. If its moving out of downtown, its likely moving out the region.

sure, we could build a basketball arena in Mandeville, but the hotels and the economics tied with nola tourism and nba events just doesn't make sense.

This is such a stupid idea and has zero chance of happening.

The location of the dome near restaurants, hotels, FQ, etc is what keeps the Super Bowls, Final 4s, CFB Playoffs coming to the city.

Marketability goes down dramatically if you move the stadium outside of town.

The Benson Trust isn't going to let the franchises move. You douchebags that lust over the idea are hoping for what would be the downfall of the last tourism driver for the state. Dumb all the way around.

Fix the crime around the dome and keep investing in that structure.

Part of the appeal of where the dome is located is everything is within walking distance. You would lose that in Mandeville/Covington. The Shrine on Airline location is not as perfect as the existing dome location but it is still close to the "appeal" of New Orleans.

AT&T Stadium for The Cowboys for an example. Sits in-between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth, right next to Globe Life Park for the Rangers.

We should be realistic about the long term prospects of this "appeal".

This stadium has to last 30-50 years, and needs to be located where the fans will be during that time. Not where we want the fans to be.

Would have to relocate north of I-12 to lower damage risk from storms.

You would think New Orleans leaders would be thinking the same thing; however, over the past several years they have watched things in the city decay.

Covid caused some of the issues, but that’s passed. Crime is getting worse and no one in charge seems to care.

Probably. But that's going to happen anyway for the Saints.

Plenty of pro arenas and stadiums well outside of the host city's downtown core.

It just keeps getting worse. When the hell is New Orleans going to govern itself?

Yep.. and i mentioned San Francisco in my post above- just Google gps’d it and it’s exactly 1 hour and 1 minute from the San Fran city center to Levi’s Stadium (at least right this minute).. and Miami is 40 min from Hard Rock Stadium where the Dolphins play .

Look, i agree that the appeal of NOLA for Super Bowls and the like has always been the proximity of the Dome to the greatest party district in the country.. and in an ideal world, id like to see it continue.. but (i know, Newsflash)- we dont live in an ideal world and im just saying if you ARE going to start from scratch in a new location, dont half-arse it and build just over the Parish line, go to higher, safer ground .

ETA im a Saints season ticket holder who is seriously considering giving up my tickets since i dont want to pay $50 to park then have my shite broken into or stolen.. as much as i generally cant stand the Northshore, id prefer it at this point in terms of safety for games .
