University Acres or College Hills are nice. Large houses and lots and little through traffic.
There are also some very nice houses back off of Moss Side Lane.
Something a little more affordable would be the Magnolia Woods or Kenilworth areas.

I'm a fan of the Old Goodwood area - Near Independence park area
Lived there for 2 1/2 years off of Keed Ave
Yes I agree with this ... especially close to the Central Library area. I just hate that Florida Blvd has gone down hill like it has but I guess it's fairly easy to avoid that side of the neighborhood
Nearby Capital Heights also is a decent middle class option. Just don't send your kids to the zoned public schools

I really like my neighborhood. Awesome families and location. Stanford Place. Close to LSU for games, close to mid-city for entertainment and easy interstate access to GTFO.
I also really like University Hills, Southdowns, and Steele Place in 70808.

Bought an older home in Jefferson Terrace last year, I haven't had any complaints yet about the neighborhood. Very quiet, mostly older folks with a younger-middle aged families moving in.
I've seen some younger (middle aged) buyers moving into Jefferson Terrace, Westminster, and Tara lately. A lot seem to be putting some $$ into some big home upgrades there.
All of those are solid neighborhoods. They aren't cheap anymore, but they aren't catastrophically expensive yet although I'm sure that day is coming for some of it.
Honestly not an abundance of affordable housing in safe neighborhoods for those first time homebuyers under 30 years old. It opens up a lot if you move past that $300K price threshold though.

Yeah this is frustrating, but there are some pretty clear signs of improvement. Florida has a Starbucks and a Rouses now. Definitely not things I would have expected there 10 years ago.
The section east of Monterrey with those stupid service roads will more difficult to redevelop, at least for retail. Pleasantly surprised by the Broadmoor Shopping Center redevelopment and the stuff around the Amazon facility.

Riverbend is great if you work at LSU or downtown. But I wouldn't want to deal with traffic working anywhere to the northeast

Sherwood Forest....oh wait, my bad

Anything in SW St George

Bocage, Country Club of La, University Club.
When you tour houses look for kids that are free to ride bikes around the neighborhood. Social neighborhoods are the ideal for kids.

I love my neighborhood in Long Farm Village in St. George

I would add Santa Maria to that list. Absolutely no foot traffic, not near any trashy areas and no apartment complexes nearby nor will ever be built nearby. Lots of young families moving in. Grocery stores nearby and easy to get on interstate.

Gardere is best I’ve seen with this.

Riverbend is a great neighborhood. Very safe and easy access to LSU and downtown.

70808. Anywhere in that zip. It’s like 85% white and close to LSU and all the amenities.

I grew up in woodland ridge. Back then it was Mayberry. Not quite the same now but the houses are older (ie: affordable) and most of the lots are larger than postage stamps
it’s easy enough to get in and out of and episcopal will always keep property values stable

If you are moving your family to BR, I’d consider where you work, where your spouse works (if they do) and where your kids intend to go to school and target neighborhoods reasonably close to those places.
Do you want sidewalks, curb and gutter streets, or a neighborhood park. What about an HOA? All those kind of things are available in different neighborhoods.
