Ok OT, knowing usual predictable discounts, rebates, new inventory, taxes, and so forth. What is the very best time of the year down to the day if you know it to get the best deal on a new truck?

Depending on what type of dealership. If you go to BMW/Suburu, etc. places that aren’t out to dominate the market, then it may not matter. Go to Ford, Chrysler, Chevy, Nissan places on the last day of the month and you could get a ridiculous deal. I sold cars at one of those dealerships and they’d lose money on an individual car in order to meet a quota and get bonuses.

Not a guarantee, but a likelihood.

Of course, that was 6 years ago, who knows what it’s like in our current situation.

I am thinking we'll see some crazy deals (probably around financing) when covid starts to loosen its grip. Truck nutz for all.

Right now the deals are artificial.. like deferred payments for 90 days and 84 months at 0%.

These aren’t truly good deals, just tactics that dealerships use to get people to part with their money for overpriced vehicles. Prices have not really dropped yet. I would imagine in another month they will have to.

Find an old man that thinks 100,000 miles is the benchmark for needing to get a new vehicle. But his on the cheap. Drive it for another 100,000 miles. Make sure it’s a Tundra.

Exactly. There is no such thing as 0% interest on an auto loan. All you are doing is pre-paying the interest up front since the “0% rate “ is tied to the purchase of a new vehicle from the manufacturer offering the loan.

Christmas Eve. Show up at the sale lot around 5:30 test drive a few and decide on what you want. The entire time you are there they must keep your salesman, a manager, a finance person, and head guy on premises. Ultimately they all want to get out of there so name your price don't settle and you'll find yourself with a legit deal.
