What do you prefer? Large over the ear ones like Beats? Something more portable like ear buds? Those weird earring looking wireless things Apple sells? Whatcha got?

Bose QC35s

The only downsize is the size, but they're more comfortable than buds with far longer battery life (assuming wireless) and the ANC is best in the business.

It's arguably the only product from Bose that isn't overhyped.

Bose quiet comfort, I never fly without them, anyone that says anything else is just as good has never used active noise reduction.

I agree they are SOTA in ANC but someone shopping should include the Sony MDR-1000XM2. My wife bought them instead of the Bose and using both back to back I prefer the Sony and the 1000XM2 has some cool features, not on the Bose.

It is a shame the "quality" can manufacturers don't take ANC seriously.

Damn man, you’re an audiophilehorologist

ETA: the Points Guy review mentions how impressed he was with the Sonys but cited some durability issues (easily scratch and dented).

Over the ear is better. You have to make sure they are “closed” headphones. “Open” headphones also go over your ear but they are “open” and sound can get in and out and aren’t good for listening in public environments. Closed headphones keep the noise out and sound in.

I hate headphones on flights. I prefer to flip through the Skymall six times and finish the crossword puzzle that the previous person was too stupid to finish.
