Bose for me. I'm sure there is better, but as deaf as I am, I might not be able to tell the difference.

Bose is my favorite.
Like others have said the active noise canceling makes all of the difference.

I have the wired Bose QC and a pair of Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless
The Bose are little more comfortable and have better noise cancelling. The Sennheiser has flat out better sound quality and I really dig the controls.

I prefer in ear QC20 bose. Better for sleeping on planes and takes up less space.

Bose Quite Comfort 20 earbuds. I have the over the ear noise cancelling and the ear bud model. The ear buds work just as well if not better than the over the ear and are a lot more compact.

I used to have those earbuds. They were awesome.
I got these last year after I did a bunch of research on them. On the list of highest rated headphones I found, this was the only one under like $100 or something. It was on lists with $1000 headphones.

For a lower cost, get the over ear noise cancelling headphones from Audio Technica. They are nice and very comfortable. About $150.

I have bose 25 right now.
Bose 35 better.

Bose AE2w Bluetooth headphones. Awesome. Incredible response. Cuts off all noise. Comfortable.

Shure studio monitor ear buds. They are fiddley until you learn how to loop them behind your ear but the sound and comfort are beyond reproach...... It's the ones you see the big stars using when singing live. .

Not sure if they're the best. But I just got a pair of V Moda m-100s, and they're pretty badass. I think Roland bought the company, because I got them free with my electronic kit. Very clean sound, with great highs and bass. I've tried them with everything from hip hop to bluegrass, and it all sounds great. They really sounds great on my kit.

There are probably some that don't realize you don't have to be listening to anything to have the benefit of the Bose or other types of active noise reduction headphones. It is very weird to turn them on and have the outside noise level drop to next to nothing, I often wear them with no music input while reading on planes.
