I keep a variety of headphone types aboard my private jet, so I can have access to any type I may fancy at any given time.

For a long trip, you want the best sound possible with maximum comfort and isolation.

I have both as well and I prefer over the ear. The only thing I like about the earbuds is they are more compact. I think over the ear works better though for noise cancelling.

After trying both I actually went with the Sony WH-1000xM2. Really happy with my decision so far. I’ve got 4 transatlantic flights in the next 30 days so I hope I’m still happy a month from now.

I just read this review of the Bowers & Wilkins PX wireless headphones. So, this isn't a personal recommendation, but since I happened to bookmark it for myself (under stuff I will probably never end up buying but looks cool), I thought I'd throw it out in the convo here for anyone who might know more or be interested.

I don't know if Bose and some of the other brands have different modes of noise cancelling, but found the description of the different modes you can use (via an app) with this set to be interesting: Office mode allows sounds to pass through; City blocks some frequencies; Flight blocks everything.
They're pricey ($400) but the reviewer says the sound quality ranks with the best he's tried. Biggest negative he cited was that they don't come with a good hard case to protect them better when packing.

Own Bose QC2's. They are OK but I don't like them on long hauls. Ears get hot and my ear start hurting after a while with the headphones pinching them for several hours. Bought some Westone UM1's with Comply foam tips. Totally isolate you from the sound. Very flat fitting in your ear so you can lay on your side with your head on a pillow wearing them comfortably. Much preferred over my QC2's for long haul flights to China or India.

Air India business class and above gives you Bose QC's. You have to return them after the flight. I highly reccomend not flying Air India even in business or first class.

I have a set of RFI6 Eargos that are awesome.
Almost as good as my noise cancelling headphones, and they fit in my pocket.

I bought some noise cancelling over the ear ones, which are very nice and sound excellent, but the $10 ear buds I bought at Target work better as far as being able to hear the audit of the movie I am watching. Most come with three sizes of buds, use the ones that fit snug in your ear.

It's arguably the only product from Bose that isn't overhyped.
Just picked up a pair at CDG airport. Had the previous Bose model and these are significantly improved. I tried everything they had in the store and nothing topped the Bose 35s.

I have Sennheiser bt450s, basically comparable to the Bose qc35s and cost a whole lot less, plus they are lighter and have a better sound imo.

How long is your flight? We just did 12 hours, but that included two plane changes and 45 minutes at one airport and 2 hours in another, so 14 hours of crazy!!! But, it was worth it!!!
