Closest one. I had this about 20 months ago. Have never felt such a prolonged sustained pain.

Not Baton Rouge general. They can’t ID shite in an acute abdomen.

My FIL got his taken out at the Lake. He's still alive, so I guess it was decent service.

Drive To Houston or Dallas; maybe even catch a flight to Atlanta....I'm sure they have better healthcare facilities.

My wife went to the Lake with gall bladder issues several years ago. Imaging showed gall stones spilling into her abdominal cavity and the next thing on the decision tree was for a surgical consult. The dumbass ER doctor decided that my wife needed to schedule an appointment for a surgical consult and not to call the surgeon on call for the consult... He sent her home with a paper telling her to get a surgical consult and a shot of dilaudid and told her to take some tylenol and advil for the pain at home. The surgeon at womans got the imaging from the lake and had my wife go straight to surgery.

Apparently your gall bladder spilling it's contents into your abdomen is NOT a good thing.

Oh, we didn't have to pay that bill at the Lake and found out how impossibly hard it is to have a doctor held accountable for their actions.

I’d go to the Lake. There are only 2 Level-1 Trauma Centers in LA and they are one of them.

Did the OP get stabbed in his gallbladder?

I went to Bluebonnet. From Plaquemine because the one closest to me was filled. I felt every bump or crack in the road on the way there...

And acute emergency so you come post on the OT seeking advice? Weird.

Gallbladder attacks sometimes don’t require emergency surgery. If your bile duct isn’t clogged and your liver looks good they’re sending you home. CT is a bad diagnostic tool for many dumb ER doctors. Have a general surgeon you trust check things out. Better to have one of those remove it too.

I don’t wish that pain on anyone, legitimately thought I was having a massive heart attack.

Good advice there. Definitely don’t let the ER doc remove your gall bladder.

Worst pain I’ve ever experienced for sure. Mine ruptured around 10pm back in early June. I finally drove myself to the ER at 3am. Surgery started by 4am and I was wheeled out the front door of the hospital at 6:50AM.

That was one helluva night.
