Mutt who was dropped in our yard by someone who didn’t want to take care of her. She died two years ago at 10. I really miss her.

Believe it or not, it was a pug. We got it for my son when he was 3. Her name was Carley. She was the most chill dog I’ve ever met, which as anyone who knows much about pugs is an anomaly. Rarely barked. Loved everyone. 100% housebroken with ease. When she wanted to go out, she’d sit by the back door. She’s go out, do her business, then come right back. And she was a great companion for my son. They grew up together. Anytime he’d go outside with his friends, she’d tag along. They’d spend all day outside in the neighborhood with my son and his friends. They all loved her. She lived a good 14 years.

Every Heeler I’ve ever had basically understood English by about year 5. They are so smart.
Mine is 3 now, and it's amazing how she's able to respond correctly to words, gestures, and even subtle facial expressions, with almost no training. Her comprehension of human communication is every bit as thorough, and oftentimes almost eerie, as the two German Shepherds I've had previously. I've barely had to train her at all and she's as well behaved and responsive to commands as many dogs that have been through formal obedience training. She just seems to understand what you want her to do.

Golden Retriever.
A perfect animal in every way. The most docile, playful, respectful, loving, and considerate creature I’ve ever known.

And after he died we bought a golden doodle that is pretty much the exact opposite of everything I just said about the golden retriever.

i have a pudelpointer and a slovakian wire-haired pointer. They are both great family and hunting dogs. I prefer the SRHP because she was more of a natural swimmer and has a better nose, it doesn’t hurt that she’s more uncommon and striking to look at.

Oh GFY.. it was a fricking joke you limp wristed pussy . I do have Frenchie currently and she is literally the strangest animal I've ever had wild personality, a motor that won't shut off snores and can clear a room.. So I stand by what I said..

We had an Alaskan Spitz when I was real young. Not the best for southern heat but that dog was beyond smart and loyal.

We let an aunt take care of her when we moved and she ran off or got taken. I always thought that temporary situation probably freaked her out and she ran off.

The beagle/dachshund mix currently sleeping on my lap.

She's been mine for 8 years, and at some points has kept me grounded through some tough times.

Smart, and a quick learner, she has an uncanny knack for detecting illness and a love for fried chicken.

Giant Schnoodle.

Gentle giant. Looked mean and could be to protected. But friendly to anyone who the family was friendly with. Smart and empathetic.

I thought my Catahoula/Shepard mix would always be #1. Took me 5 years until I rescued my Catahoula/Pit mix I have now. This dog is clearly #1. Sweet, great with kids, great on a leash, potty-trained, and never barks. Never even had to get on to her.

All of them.

From an outside perspective from my friends or extended family?

A German shepherd.

We have a yellow british lab. He's 13 (almost 14). We got him when he was just shy of 4mths. I started training him immediately. At a year old he had hand signals down. He was one of the best duck dogs I've hunted with.

He was very, very protective of my wife and kids.

He's old and we won't have him much longer and it will crush me when it's his time but he has been the best dog I've ever had.

Saw a saying last night that said something along the lines of: You don't have your whole life with a dog but a dog has his whole life with you and he only knows that love that you give him.

A blue heeler.

First one was the best one.

Second one is a good dog, but will never be like the first one was.

Third one has potential, but totally different personality, acts more like a lab than a real heeler, which is odd because my brother has one of the siblings and it’s all normal heeler.

I've had some great dogs, my lab/golden mix was amazing.

Currently we have a Havanese. Pretty much the most amazing dog. Sleeps on my shoulders on the couch, craves attention, and super fun.

I'd definitely get another.
