Also for LSU, I’d nominate Maxime Faget, who designed the Mercury space capsule and contributed to the designs of the Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts and the Space Shuttle.

He got his bachelors in mechanical engineering from LSU in 1943.

Did this hero play football at Tulane ? If so, I knew one of his teammates there who told us about him.
He was, indeed, a patriot !!!!!

Friend,

Irma Thomas is a fellow alumnus of the best college in Louisiana, Delgado Community College. Jay Nix, the mastermind behind the poorboy renaissance of the mid 2000s and owner of Parkway Bakery is another alumnus.

Friend,

Several relatives were quite close with the DeBakey family. I continued correspondence with one of the doctor's sisters, who was a renown linguist and medical language professional. She only recently followed her brother to Glory, where all hearts beat well and in fullness. A deeply Episcopal family, it was a shame that New Orleans lost them to Houston more than half a century ago.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

P.S. Dr. DeBakey would have no problem spending $2 for correspondence unlike some of these uncultured barbarians who believe the age of pen and paper has passed us.

Friend,

I hope you were good friends with him. Perhaps you could join a prayer circle with him in it and send my very best well wishes to him. Our families have since lost touch. Great Grandfather told me a story about Dr. Michael DeBakey. It was May of 1936 and the two worked at Tulane, one as a surgeon and the other as another type of doctor to be unnamed. They had just finished a meal together when Dr. DeBakey was summoned by a secretary to report to the hospital at once. Well, he zipped into his car, if I recall correctly, a Chrysler Airflow. Soon the pair was zooming down Canal, but not before a policeman who had no mercy in him stopped them. He wrote an expensive ticket for operating at 38 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. Apparently, his penchant for speed continued in Houston where he was known to speed around the medical campus with little regard for speed limits.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,

You seem to lack the common touch of humanity; your posts are more and more taking on an elitist tone. No elitist is a friend of humanity. No elitist is a friend of mine.

Kindly refrain from making false claims of friendship.
