I have a large floating duck blind on a 20 acre piece of water that is 5 miles east of the current track (near Garwood, TX). Which corner of the pond gives you the best protection from wind/waves?

If it passes to the west your winds will be predominantly out of the east. Wind will push water toward the west and the waves will break on the western side of the lake, making the eastern shore the least impacted.

Garwood is right down the line so a northern jog, which since 5 am it's been taking, may change that.

Now, let us see how they handle Mark making pretty much the exact same post.

You're arguing two different things, baw. Your focus is on the personality behind it and the potential hypocritical way he's being handled.

You're wrong here about the intended impact though. As I said, using Katrina, Harvey, etc is intentional to cause hype, regardless of who posted it.

Show me one analog for Beryl that says Harvey.

So, you are one of the people who legitimately believe he was calling Barrel "Harvey 2.0"? I see.

I agree with Oates. People are dumb, so when they see see a Harvey comparison they think they're about to get 40" of rain. A clarification for context in such posts would be prudent.

far as a rainfall, Harvey insane rainfall rates, stalled out, looped around, this storm is projected move inland and keep going.

Yeah the problem is that Harvey chilled for a few days. This won’t.

Yes, because he didn't provide any additional context or information. Where are the rainfall forecasts that analog Beryl to Harvey? I'm still waiting.

He's a public weather figure, he has a responsibility to the public to post responsibly. All he had to do was put in a brief disclaimer about what his specific Harvey reference was about. He didn't.

Look at how the 1 pm location update busted the 10 am cone

Would have to jog dude west to stay on track. Recon found a consolidated center more to the nw which is playing part of the northern jog today.

Still think HOU is going to get the worse of it, even if the Center comes ashore a little further south.

Other than the starting point location, I don't see any difference in the cone or the projected path of the storm between the 10 AM and the 1 PM plots.

Well, that would be a very good reason why I don't see any differences.

Thanks.

Well, our place in Rockport is boarded up. Started at 6am this morning. Got my sons place in Portland done, resting and debating if we need to do my daughters in Flour Bluff. Hot sumbitch out there right now, no breeze. 75%+ of Rockport folks aren't boarding up or appear to be taking any precautions, there are a bunch of RVs and boats heading North. Another jog south and tomorrow will be a shite show down here I'm sure, heading North this evening with one of our boats.
