Any rec ball team should be more concerned with teaching skills than winning and losing. If all you care about is playing your best kids and winning the ship, take that to travel / all star ball. These days, there are enough of those types of teams for everyone that feels that way.

Not sure why these things need to be mutually exclusive. I have coached my kids from early age at different levels- rec, travel, allstar. The goal has always been to improve all players and be competitive. The seasons we have done the best, are when we are able to elevate the lower skilled players to better players.

They don't have to be, except for the fact that most (not all) travel ball parents don't want the lesser kids slowing their kids down.
Sounds like you are a coach that "gets it". Not too many of those. congrats.
