Cornwall, England. Absolutely beautiful and every time I visit I never want to leave. Told my wife I want my ashes scattered there.

Nope. Full freedom nut here. I’ve experienced the wonders of the orient, and while it’s fun, this is the greatest country in the world. I was born exactly where I should have been.

For those (and I'm sure it's the majority here) who feel like the U.S. is the country they were meant to be born in, were you born in the right state/region or do you wish you had been born in a different state/region?

Thinking it through I definitely could be born as a Long Island Jew. I tend to get along with them specifically. My dad and my father’s father both look Jewish, and I’d be shocked if I don’t have some Jew in me. But second best place would be in the smart arse South for sure.

Let's be honest, the U.S. is a country built to favor people who are bold and are extroverted.

Yep, that’s me.

I find myself drawn to Asian countries where introversion is more respected, people in general live slower paced less materialistic lives and there isn't the constant division (race/gender/class/sexual orientation) that we see here in the U.S.

I think you’re overestimating how reserved many Asian countries actually are. The Chinese are extremely loud, obnoxious, social, and opinionated (which is why I got along there). Japan does like some really outrageous and flamboyant shite. They’re not as quiet as you think they are. And they’re worse on race and especially gender over there. Ask any girl born (and not born) in China about that.

Anyone born in America should be on their knees thanking God daily that they were born here. It is basically the luck of the draw they could have just as easily been born in a mud hut in Africa

The leftist scum who hates America needs to learn that

Name a country that was built and then ran by introverts.

Not enough sunlight. I’ll take the South for that reason alone. I had some great times there as well, but I can’t handle overcast 90% of the time.

Nope. All you have to do is be reliable to be successful. I'm no extrovert and I'm doing very well.

Plus Asian languages like Japanese and Korean are traditionally some of the hardest languages to learn. That's definitely a barrier that I wouldn't have going to many European countries but I don't have a huge desire to live in Europe (loved visiting but probably wouldn't want to live there).

Move to the Philippines. Pretty much everyone speaks English. There will be no shortage of women looking to marry a weird white guy.

Yeah, best advice in the thread. Knew plenty of people from the Philippines and from there accent you’d think they grew up in Indianapolis.

They def aren’t introverts, they know how to have fun and are some of the best singers in the world. Born with a broom in one hand and a microphone in the other.

This guy doesn’t make sense anyway. I find America way more boring than most countries I have been to.

Doesn’t being an introvert mean that you will always spend more time alone regardless of where you live? Why would you expect things to be any different anywhere else? My husband is an introvert, but he has had success in his field because he is an engineer and provides a necessary skill set. But it’s highly unlikely he will rise to the very top of his firm. He doesn’t have the people skills. I imagine that’s true anywhere in the world. The higher you rise in any field, the more you need to be able to sell. There are exceptions, but those people were generally geniuses. My husband doesn’t mind being an introvert. If it bothers you, maybe you could try medication. I’m not convinced that moving would help you.

Yeah, you’re right about that. The Pilipinos I all hung out with were very social and big drinkers. Honestly the Philippines outside of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore is the closest you’re going to find to America out there.

I totally get why older people become so cynical.
I'm 62, but I've been cynical since I was a teenager in the 70's. That's why when I registered to vote, I did so as an independent.

I knew we, as a country, were headed into a terrible place when, during early 2000's "Communications" training, I was told using sarcasm was mean, not just at work, but at any time.. I wasn't being singled out. Someone from an outside consulting firm told us that, and taught us how to sound sincere when we apologize. All of the management from work flew from Dallas, Houston and Austin, to Atlanta, and stayed in hotels for a week, before the rest of us went through it in a hotel conference room all day for five straight days.

The thing I hate about today is how appearances are more important than reality. I hate any situation being that way.

I was definitely born in the wrong region of America. American culture overall is too diverse to say there isn’t a part where I feel I fit. Southern culture has just never suited me. I’m only the second generation in my family that was born in the south though, so that may have a lot to do with it. But I also don’t jive with the Midwestern culture where most of my family is from.
