High oil prices are nice for a small segment of the country but bad for the economy overall.
High oil prices are especially bad in my line of work, so I sure hope they stay on the lower end of the spectrum, $60/bbl is a good number for us.
I side with the economy on this one.

No its a great example.
Most decent jobs today require a cell phone. The cheapest plans out there are around ~50 dollars. A large majority of people can't even save 300 dollars.
A cell phone is borderline a requirement to be functional in today's society.
Just like the internet.

well then if you care so much about those that spend inefficiently, you should help them
I do what I can. It still doesn't explain your inability to recognize the fact that most people live paycheck to paycheck, not from inefficient spending, but from a large majority of factors.

Did it reach a point where it broke people......nope. I'm merely pointing out your exaggeration of not only how it would be the end of the world, but also "crazy baw spending".
I didn't break people. They just stopped spending money.

**paging napoleon** or anyone with a little truck knowledge
I have an 06 Silverado, and for awhile my AC would only blow on 3, 4, & 5, so I just took a look at my resistor for my blower motor - well its melted and had some funky smelling black liquid all over it.. I expected it to be burnt up a little, but the liquid kind of threw me off.. what is this shite? Do I now need to replace my whole blower??
Sorry for hijacking, but I didn’t think this question deserved it’s own thread

Name some other than rare unwarranted diseases. All consequences of actions.

You are aware there are finite "well-paying jobs."?
You are aware that everyone can't make a 28 or higher on their ACT and get a free ride to college?
You are aware that everyone didn't start from the same level financially (unless you are willing to be a smart arse and assume all babies have zero dollars in their account, in which now thinking about it, is false, due to 529 accounts)?
While you are not wrong in your statement, it's not as black and white as you make it seem.

Yes it is. Problem with people like you is you like to play the blame game.
Its always someone or something else that is at fault.

????
I am as MAGA as they come. If people stop spending money, how you expect to hit 3% GDP every quarter
Like it or not, you need poors to spend money on shite and not just pay bills for this machine to work.
No one is assigning blame, I am making you aware not all roads are made equal. Something you are having a hard time understanding right now.

again, I realize high oil & gas prices can have a negative affect. I think people merely overstate a whole lot about them. First, out of like the last 30 years, there have only been 3 years worth of months where the price of oil was $100 average for the month and I think only 1 year where it averaged that much for the year. We act as if we reached some new norm that good ole oil baws have been destroying the economy with high oil prices for decades. Reality is, we are going to settle back into 70ish-80ish dollars again, and life will go on.

Interesting because it looks like from this chart the average is right around 50 before it went through the roof in 2007.

Agree, supply is still too high. I don’t think these prices are sustainable.

Yeah, and if you look at the chart, it's really only 2008 and 2011 to 2014 where prices stayed above 100 (a little over 3 year. Chart I looked at a while back only showed 2008 actually averaging for the whole yaer0. Inflation and other things considered, I think it jumps from 50ish to 70ish peaking in the 80s.

My point is in the other gas prices threads in the past people complain that all goods go up in price so it definitely affects everyone.
