Probably get your money's worth too.

The only schools he needs to be worried about in Fort Bend ISD is willowridge, Marshall, and Bush. His home price won’t be in those areas.

In the Houston area Sugar Land is nice. Plenty of things to do, restaurants, etc. Real estate is moving unbelievably fast here. Wife is an agent for Gary Greene and multiple full price offers the day a house goes on the market is fairly common right now. Homes from $300 to $650K are in huge demand.

Thanks man. I’m staying optimistic and it’s easier to be optimistic in a place like Houston. Everything is here and alive. Things seemed dead or dying in Louisiana. Not trying to be one of those people that leaves LA and then talks about how bad it sucked because I loved a lot of my time there. My whole life was lived there.

The opportunity for me to rebuild my life there just didn’t excite me though. No wife, no kids, so why not move?

Dulles, Austin, and Clements are better than any non-specialty high school in Louisiana. Those are all Sugar Land aka Fort Bend ISD.

Since you have kids, the boredom of living in a suburb won’t be as bad as if you were 26 and single.

Be sure to check the flood zoning of your house.

Biggest drawback about Houston is the pre-Covid traffic. I have a great commute but plenty of people in my office drive an hour or more each way. They live in the Woodlands, Cinco Ranch, Kingwood, and Richmond. I’m sure they all have 3000 square foot homes, great zoned schools, and half have pools, but the commute time is terrible. Especially since the commute is in tightly packed traffic that requires much more attention than anything I’ve needed to do in LA.

Sugar Land is probably considered the third or fourth nicest suburb of Houston, following the Woodlands and Katy/Cinco Ranch. Memorial too, if that is considered a suburb. Overall not a bad place to be at all, if you and your wife can keep your commute times manageable.

Pffft, Tigerfred lives where? Yeah, you have Katy/cinco Ranked too high. He drags them way down.

We can all agree that the Houston food is every bit as good, if not better in its diversity, than NOLA

Look at the property tax.

Sugarland would be nice if you never had to leave or did not have to go very far for work but the commute to other areas will be a killer.
