So watching this video has got me on a rabbit hole on youtube with other tree cutting fails.

I have come to the conclusion that some people are entirely too stupid to be able to buy a chainsaw.

Yeah, you need a boom truck to take that tree down in small sections.

This is the way, Or climb it with spikes and top it, delimb the top with a heavy rope attached to each limb, so that it swings straight down, then lower it to the ground, then take the trunk down in 3 or 4 foot pieces, tied off so that they swing to the trunk and then lower them to the ground. The trunk is so heavy, you might never reach a short enough trunk to drop the remaining length of trunk. I saw a guy drop a short section of heavy trunk. It fell across the water line and ruptured it. Made a nice fountain in the front yard. I'm not sure anyone would have a boom truck that reaches high enough to reach the top.

We had one dropped at our house in Alabama. He dropped all of the pieces within a 6 foot circle of the base of the tree. He was an old dude, too.

A straight pine tree like that isn't that terribly expensive. They'd have that thing down in an hour

You're absolutely correct. Maybe $5,000. Maybe $7,500. cheap for getting one that tall dropped.

The home owner is in the comments LOLing about his house getting crushed. The home owner is the one who needs his arse beat for being such a dumbass for letting a yard guy do this. Another example of in 2020 people think it’s cool to be a dumbass.

I'm watching this now and with an exception of the first one, they all seem to be doomed from the beginning. Right now I'm on the one where theres a really tall arse ladder on top of a house going up a palm tree. Anyone can look at this and tell its probably going to end poorly.

eta: yep, I think I just watched somebody die. I didn't expect the tree to bounce him like that.

For one tree? Some of y’all have gotten ripped off. I had a pine tree about that size taken down last year for $750. All 3 estimates I got were under $1,000. It wasn’t that close to my house, but maybe a 10 yard difference.

That’s what happens when you try and cut trees down yourself or find a cheap guy on Craigslist.

There is an actual skill to cutting trees

I have about a 40 year old live oak that's half hanging over my house and I got quoted $2200 for it. And it would take a lot longer to take down than that pine tree in the OP.

Was that the homeowner cutting the tree, or some jackleg the homeowner hired to cut the tree? What on Earth was going through that ding dong's mind when he fired up that chainsaw?

Check this chainsaw fail video: LINK

This baw backs his pickup up against the tree to try and get his chainsaw out of a bind.. you know, because the tree is falling and pinched it? WCGW?

Then, the next guy doesn't actually seem like an idiot to me but it's pretty wild. His chainsaw catches fire at the top and he knocks it off but it causes the whole tree to engulf in flames while he's on top of it. Yikes.

There's a bunch of examples (4:35 in the video above) where people are cutting down shite and get hit by the shite they just cut down. I dont know why people assume the bottom of the tree is going to jump away from them.

At 6:20, we witness a miracle.

Yeah a big pine like that that’s dead a good tree company with 3-4 man crew will come and drop that in no bullshite 10 minutes and have it cleaned up in under 2 hours. These guys talking about blocking the road don’t know what they are talking about, tree guys will drop trees on roads all the time and it takes 15 minutes to clear it.
