re: Baton Rouge traffic…

There is not a city out there that does not have shitty traffic. Due to the moves to the suburbs taken by anyone that cares about schools and not getting robbed, more vehicles are on the roads than every before, and America loves to take 10 years to build infrastructure that is 20 years out of date, and literally never think of next steps. Now cities are having to decide on spending money to alleviate traffic, knowing that we will have self driving cars in 10-15 years and a huge probability of digital offices making commercial office real estate borderline obsolete anyways.

Next time, take the New Roads/St Francisville Bridge, & US 61 to BR...
That bridge was built exclusively for the blue bloods to get to their False River camps... No plebs allowed.
Such a giant waste of money. Imagine if that bride connected Ascension to the west bank.
Daily Bridge Traffic
Horace WIlkinson 110,000
Huey P. Long 17,000
John James Audubon 3,000

LSU is out. Traffic will be fine until late August.

I get that.. and I can't speak for others, but for me my complaint is more with the infrastructure. They have been talking about a new bridge for over 20 years, they have paid "consultants" to do "studies", etc.. And every time I get stuck in traffic I cuss those sons a bitches out.
But I guarantee you this.. If you had to go at a stop and go pace from just before the intercoastal to the I-10/I1-10 split a few times a week you would complain as well.

The Sunshine Bridge does that. Averages about 16,000 vehicles a day.

My Houston commute went from 31 minutes to 1:21 minutes yesterday because I stayed an hour later than usual. On the road at 1445 vs. 1600 makes a bit of a difference.
It's the same BR it's always been, and you chose to live in Addis, Brusly, or similar, so there's a price to pay. Next time, schedule your appointments closer to lunch.

Driving to Baton Rouge
That was your first mistake.

fun fact: Baton Rouge is only one hour from Baton Rouge!

You move to the west side of a river, but never consider that your whole life is on the east side. Then you blame one government for your poor choices, but not the government that sold you a bill of goods when you bought the cheap house where nothing was.
It is like people who live next to a bayou and complain about drainage and flooding when they are 2 feet above sea level.
Or people who have lakefront property who complained about property taxes.

I was born and raised in BR and decided to move away from the mess that it’s become. My family is originally from New Roads/Lakeland. Built on family land and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Doctors appointment in BR requires traveling across one of three bridges. I looked at the traffic maps before leaving. An 18 wheeler with an oversized load broke down on top of the old bridge about 20 or so cars in front of me. Missed my appt. but rescheduled while on the bridge. Thank goodness for cell phones.

Brutal right now heading home. Somebody let me over before I have to get on this bridge.

No way out. There's been at least 4 loop studies replete with NEPA submittals, meetings, etc. and what a huge waste taxpayer's dough.

If I worked in BR and had a flexible schedule this is exactly where I’d reside. Either New Roads or St Francisville

Like the Gramercy bridge isn’t a giant waste of $. It is really out in the middle of nowhere
