Looks like our mayor got her money priorities in line. Lol!

Mayor responsible spending!

Chief Administrative Officer Darryl Gissel emphasized Wednesday the difficulty of numerous priorities that are pulling the mayor’s office up, down, left and right. He said departments across the city-parish are struggling to work within their budgets..

Really I thought Baton Rouge runs a responsible Government with no pork projects.

For example, District Attorney Hillar Moore III sent Broome a letter a month ago saying his office was in “financial crisis.”

Further down in the article
Moore wrote in his letter last month that he has had to eliminate a chief homicide prosecutor position, a deputy domestic violence prosecutor and a deputy sex crimes prosecutor to make his budget work.

Who needs a DA’s office to prosecute our thugs cough cough mean angels, when we can spend money on an inner city grocery store!!!

When Broome campaigned for mayor in 2016, she pledged at a Together Baton Rouge forum to commit $1.5 million to attract grocery stores to underserved neighborhoods. Her proposed budget supplement takes a step in that direction but falls short of the total amount, as the Broome administration wants to spend $250,000 annually for three years on the initiative.

Gravy needs his grocery store to keep his well rounded figure up and what better program for us to spend tax dollars on besides studies.

Yea, BR and SWB spending money responsibly like a “crackhead in a crackhouse that just won the lottery.”

They closed down the Winn Dixie on Govt St well before Winn Dixie was in financial trouble due to low revenue and high inventory shrinkage.

But yea let's put another grocery store in North BR that those people won't spend money at and will rob.....BRILLIANT!!!!!

North BR residents need a good neighborhood store to steal from. Broome is just hoping to pay a store off enough that it covers the damages

Where do people in NBR buy their food?

Gas stations? Convenience stores?

Where do they get fresh fruit, meat, and veg?

There is a plethora of small grocery stores in NBR. There are no large ones because history has shown them to be a losing proposition.

If they were money makers they would have stayed open.

I love how they talk about "food deserts" etc as if there is some conspiracy to deny poor people access to food.
It's about profits. Theft. Getting robbed.
That's why grocery stores aren't in the hood.
It's 100% their doing!

I don’t know what they are talking about here. There are little grocery stores and meat markets and food places all Over the hood.

Instead of catering to the ghettos (which caused their own problems to begin with) how about improving the economy and reducing these welfare programs that encourage the leeches to continue leeching.

Big grocery stores do not play like the smaller stores in NBR.. EBT scams is why there are so many small grocery stores. The bigs dont play. Along with other business transactions you dont hear about.

convert the unused bus system into rolling perishable grocery stores that people can shop at at various times during the day

Luckily for them, well take luck out of the equation, Amazon is set to announce Amazon Go, a check out free grocery store in North Baton Rouge.

When asked for comment, an Amazon representative said that "our new business model fits this profile and demographic perfectly for the area since the majority of customers are already used to grabbing their items and walking out."

If wal mart thought they could make money there, they would have a store there.

This idiot mayor spending city dollars to build a store that won’t be used, will be destroyed and robbed on a weekly basis before finally closing soon after opening is the latest assanine waste of money.

Come on st George!

nothing is ever there fault, haven’t you noticed that! It’s all the white man holding them down!

When in reality it’s their own leaders and church organizers that hold them down and keep them ignorant while profiting.

I wonder if the big chains would survive if you could have people sell CDs outside of them to generate business? The partnership worked for that AM Mart place.

Why do we need homicide and rape detectives? People in north Baton Rouge don’t do that

We need more massage and inspection sticker detectives

They don’t buy fresh things. They buy zebra cakes and Doritos and other processed foods that are bad for you

I'm sure that one of their successful community leaders will jump right on this business opportunity.
