Anyone know if cox is down? We are gonna try to run the tv/cable/modem so we can get the news but if cox is down it won’t matter.

Riverbend neighborhood is without power, though Brightside has power, as does areas around Rouse's.

Gustav peak gusts were 92
Ida peak gusts in Baton Rouge were 65 according to WAFB.

That’s the broader, general data.

Anecdotal evidence is even more lopsided, but geographically limited to the 70817 zip code.

My neighborhood in south BR is surrounded by neighborhoods that didn’t lose power. That’s prolly bad for me

Cox is still down, at least around Sherwood.

Power still out along Millerville.

We have cable over by Essen and Perkins. Just plugged up the TV and cable box with the generator. Didn't try the modem though.

Any of you baws have any insight?

No insight but the scope of the problem looks like this;

EBR ~75% without power
Ascension 95% without power
Livingston - have no idea but 90% of DEMCO is out

I dont think EBR issues are that severe for repairs - just a lot of outages. As you go to NOLA it gets pretty bad.

Storm is gone and crews should be hitting the field now.

Thanks for info.

Live in Wedgewood off ONeal Lane in eastern BR. Power still out. Was out for 8 days after Gustav.

I have a better feeling about this one. Demco has upgraded a lot since 2008 and their crews are normally pretty good. But this is a different animal.

Good news is that my new Predator 7250 generator has been purring along for 13 hours plus on first tank of gas.

70817 was much closer to the center of the storm than the Baton Rouge airport. The winds were quite a bit stronger towards the EBR parish line than at the airport.

I think that was the case for both Gustav and Ida right?

I can definitely see Ascension having it worse for Ida.

I was pretty shocked by what I saw in terms of damage in 70817 in 2008. At least my parents’ general neighborhood didn’t appear to take the same amount of roof damage and downed trees. I am no longer in the area though so it’s all second hand info (from people who were there for both storms).
