You need to go jogging down Hollywood, Prescott, and Evangeline.

I don't think any Southern cities are bad to those of us from other Southern cities.

Yes, Judge Parker presaged the end. Baton Rouge has been rendered a cultural and intellectual Chernobyl because of his actions (desegregation). The middle class has been screwed royally by a small parasitical elite in cahoots with the maladapted, corrupt political class. Notwithstanding LSU, a school most people love and respect, Baton Rouge is considered the worst type of fly-over country town. A dystopian hellscape akin to a Mad Max installment.

His ruling just made middle class white people move to the suburbs which happened in most other Southern cities 25 years earlier.

There are some dangerous neighborhoods north of Florida around there but that area is undergoing a good bit of gentrification. It's not a bad spot to live, particularly if you don't have kids and don't have to pay for private school.

BR doesn't have tons of potholes like Nola for the most part. Traffic is worse though depending on where you work and live.

Calandro's is a pretty cool grocery store near you. They have an awesome booze selection. A little expensive. Several good restaurants around there too.

Baton Rouge is Jackson/Montgomery with a SEC school. The demographics, while not great, would look a lot like the other two mentioned without LSU.

If they would just pressure wash or repaint the walls lining the interstate, the aesthetic game would increase +100

As Michael Corleone said: "If we've learned anything from history, if history has taught us anything, it's that Jackson is BR in 20 years."
