at least aesthetically. Granted I havent gone north of Florida Blvd and I'm from the westbank of Nola but this place doesn't seem as bad as the shithole y'all make it out to be.

Baton Rouge has some absolutely beautiful areas.

Hundred Oaks, Old Goodwood, Capital Heights, Lakeshore Drive, College Town, etc.

I love living in BR:

- Low cost of living relative to bigger cities, 2 average incomes or 1 good income and you can live very comfortably.
- Its generally safe as long as you don't go into the bad areas which are obvious to spot.
- Solid food/drink scene for its size, and if its not good enough for you then you can drive 1 hour east for world class food/drink spots.
- Almost always something going on, especially if you love LSU sports.
- You rarely have to deal with below freezing temps. It may get hot, but give me that over the cold all day.

Now all that being said, we stil have alot of flaws. Many people on here, understandably so, choose to shite on BR because they see the shitty politicians in the city/state and our history of little progress and assume nothing will ever change. The primary reasons why people hate it here are:
- Traffic
- No decent public education
- Limited career opportunities

I choose to hope that we will improve in all these areas, even if I am completely off base. I like to spread positivity. Reality is that all these things can be improved by bringing good high-paying jobs into BR. You need to convince some of these big companies to come here and open up an office. Kip had some success and was able to move us forward some, SWB hasn't done shite in terms of recruiting new businesses to the city.

The LSU lakes are the epicenter of the next coronavirus outbreak if they aren't dredged or filled in.

Baton Rouge really isn't bad. I like living here which goes against what the OT thinks but, then again, I don't put much stock in the OT's opinion anyway.

Its at least better than anywhere in Bama. Plus, its the home of the new kings of the SEC West.

I'd add incompetent city leadership and a failure to control crime to the list.
