The argument that "the Catholic Church removed them!" is so mindfrickingly absurd that I can't comprehend how people can actually type it out.

PSA for those that don't know, YOU CALL POLICE IF YOU KNOW AN ADULT IS MOLESTING A CHILD. YOU DON'T JUST FIRE THEM OR DEMOTE THEM.

And still worked in the church, like I said. Who knows what he did to children from 1990-1999 in New Mexico.

You know that the Congregation of the Servants of the Paraclete in New Mexico isn't a public ministry, rather an addiction center?

Sorry but I have to call bullshite on this. No offense but I hear this quite a bit and it's is totally illogical.

First people that fondle and molest children have a problem going on in their heads that having sex with an adult female is not going to solve.

If all these priest were being caught in whore houses and strip clubs you might have an argument but priests getting married is not going to fix what ales the church.

Preists have had sex with other adults or prostitutes for ever. You don’t hear about it because no one care. If you allow preists to marry, you open up the applicant pool to men who want to be preists but don’t want to sacrifice having a family. Otherwise, all you have room for are men who are abnormally faithful and lying predators.

Is it a jail? Or a court ordered inpatient rehab that was locked down?

Was he free to walk around the town? Drive to little league parks and watch the games?

Did he have internet access?

How do you think the mind gets perverted to the point of doing what they do? It’s from years of being drilled to not act on your natural urges towards women. Then the only extended alone time they spend with anyone are young boys. It’s a recipe for disaster. Humans aren’t naturally wired to be celibate for an entire lifetime.

What snipe is trying to say is predators will be predators regardless. Sexual predators are drawn to power. This is why it is prevalent in the military, LE, the church, schools, etc. This is about power over a human being to fulfill your sexual desire. Being married to a woman, or a man if you're into that sort of thing, WILL NOT FIX SOMEONES SICK PREDISPOSITION TOWARDS CHILDREN. Allowing priests to marry won't keep these predators from entering the church. There are many child molesters who are married.

Facts. I agree.

It’s not fool proof, but it would make things better. It gives you a bigger pool of applicants, minimizing risks. There is no reason why preists can’t marry. I think if it’s allowed, you will have a better quality of applicants.

Okay. Lets clear a few things up before I attempt to answer your questions above. I'm not condoning any of these actions, and the coverups that occurred. However, we're talking about allegations that were uncovered largely in the 80's and 90's from abuses in the 60's and 70's. Yes, the prevailing mindset in the BR Diocese appears to be "get them out of the parishes and keep it quiet". There have also been instances (I'm not sure about BR, but I'm familiar with other dioceses) where leadership DID report abuses to the police and district attorneys and they were unwilling to pursue the allegations because of the lack of evidence besides a "he said, she said" case.

And to answer your above questions, a quick google search of Jemez Springs, NM shows that it's an incredibly rural and isolated location that likely to this day does not have a little league team, or internet access...and certainly wouldn't have in 1990. Additionally, most of these abusers limited their abuse to within the confines of their Parish, school, etc. where they remained a "trusted" member of the community. They weren't off snatching boys from the little league park in plain clothes.

It would allow you to get to a normal range of sickos in the organization compared to other organizations. This seems so obvious to me but I am not a Catholic and not attached to traditions.

Church/biblical doctrine aside. There are married Priests in the Catholic Church...most of which were Episcopal Priests and became ordained Catholic in the 80's-90's given some changes in the Episcopal faith in America. I know two of them and am friends with their children...both of whom share the challenges faced managing a Parish family and their own family.

I'm not defending the Catholic Church or pedophiles in general, but fundamentally I have an issue with an association of a "credible accusation" with an association of guilt. The bedrock of our criminal justice system is that people accused of a crime are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

The determination of whether an accusation is "credible" is established at trial, or at least in determining if the accusations have enough associated evidence to support the state moving forward with formal criminal charges.

I'd like to know how the Diocese defines "credibly accused" as some of these incidents look to have been reported years/decades after they are alleged to have occurred, and in some instances years/decades after the priest had died.

So your saying only people who are denied sex turn into pedophiles?

The priest that baptized me was caught sleeping with a woman in the parish. It was consensual. He was removed and is actually married to her now and has a grand child on the way.

"An allegation of sexual abuse is considered credible when the bishop believes that, after a careful investigation and upon the recommendation of the Diocesan Independent Review Board, an incident of sexual abuse occurred, or probably occurred, with the possibility that it did not occur being highly unlikely."

Super strong standards they are implementing over at the archdiocese to ferret out these sexual deviants.

"He said the list is a dynamic document and will be added to if new allegations are made against clergy members in the diocese. Duca said the diocese will find a way to communicate those additions publicly."

In other words if we can't keep this under wraps and the press is about to unveil another pedo Priest then we will add that person onto the list.

Seems most on the list happened some time ago, and most of them are deceased. Wonder what a more currentl looks like?

Take vigilante justice against the pedophile priests within your own church Catholics. Your church heirarchy protects these guys and they don’t get arrested be the authorities. Take back your church.

Read the lists.
Look at the dates and instances.
Look at the dates they were reported.
***Look at the actions taken. The Bishops of Baton Rouge did EDIT: fairly well in dealing with EDIT: MOST of these men. Certainly better than more than a few other dioceses in the United States***Most, if you look, were laicized or had faculties withdrawn and were removed. Those in "religious orders" were sent back, and mostly removed from ministry there, too.

Many of these actions were taken upon ONE claim. Some had more than one, but most had one claim, and they were dealt with.

That is what I took away from reading the lists.

I’m waiting for the news report that lists some catholic priests who haven’t tried to jerk off a kid. Would require some digging. Could be a pulitzer in it
