I'm not defending him, but that is just the way he is thinking right now. It's probably a knee-jerk reaction, but imagine that times 100 million. Understanding his thought process should be what you're thinking about, and not the actual words. Yeah the words are dumb, but he said them for a reason.

The way Col Mike said it made it seem like he was the only guy. They never mentioned accomplices or additional gun men. So I think most naturally go to the "lone gunman" theory and possibilities. Personally I believe he had help. I also respect the LEOs for withholding whatever they need to for the safety of our community. Today just sucks.
