No shite.

“They concluded,” Mosher writes, “that the first case of a human having contracted the virus was probably a biolab worker from the WHCDC or WIV who accidentally exposed himself to blood or urine from a bat and infected himself.

This doesn't mean the virus is bio-engineered. It means that it was being researched in a lab, likely for treatment purposes. The animals used during testing found their way to exotic wet markets in the Wuhan area.

This would be the result of extreme negligence and incompetence, not biological warfare.

Don't the Chinese eat bats on a pretty normal basis? Especially in the poorer areas?

If the virus naturally occured in the bat population, and bats are being sold normally at these markets, you would think the chances would be higher of multiple people eating bats and catching the virus.

I don't see anywhere in the OP that suggests any of this. It just sounds like China is a nasty fricking place with extreme disregard for public health and safety

And it’s funny that this was all that the so called “China apologists” were saying was more likely. The main thing I’ve seen argued against was that it wasn’t an engineered bioweapon.

Written by Botao Xiao and Lei Xiao from the state-run South China University of Technology, the paper titled “The Possible Origins of the 2019-n-CoV coronavirus” confirmed that the China virus came from an animal known as the intermediate horseshoe bats, as alleged by communist authorities who said that bats were being sold in the Wuhan market.

Well that doesn’t sound like contradictory tabloid writing at ALL. Time to try to find the paper itself....watch if there isn’t a list of possibilities.

Read your own quote.

It’s an alternative news site quoting another alternative news site about something he claimed to have read in February but was taken off the nets so no one else can tell him he is wrong.

Going to try to find the paper. There should be something online somewhere.

Where would you guess in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia the CDC keeps its smallpox samples?

This is why & how conspiracy theories exist. People pass along rumor and unproven bullshite then someone down the line will start spouting this off as gospel.

Slow down there chief, you're message-boarding way too seriously.

This is the off topic section of a sports message board, literally meant for discussion of random shite. What we discuss here regarding this topic has zero bearing on the real world.

What do you think is gonna happen, exactly?

It came from China. That is not a conspiracy. China and WHO said it wasnt transmittable from human to human as late as Jan 14th. That is not a conspiracy.

What is a baseless rumor is that the President didnt do anything for months, like you and your ilk has spouted out.

Funny how the Italians wish they werent so PC now, telling people to go hug a chinese person.

Found it. It wasn’t a peer reviewed paper nor was there research done (nor presented as such). It was an opinion piece submitted into a scientific forum.

LINK

The scientist later retracted it because the possibility of recombination or intermediate host that they discounted in this piece due to lack of evidence actually turned out to be highly probable based of multiple peer reviewed papers published.

This was the highest profile study released a few days before the retraction:

LINK

Worth noting that this finding was far from unique, and other labs have only found more lines of evidence towards it.

And the author explaining his retraction to WaPo and the NYT.

Funny though. 5 minutes of search yielded the paper that the “article” claimed was scrubbed from the internet. Hard hitting investigative journalism, that. Better to just say it’s not there, looks more ominous and provides a morsel for the conspiracy legions to latch onto.

Note: this doesn’t mean I’m claiming it’s impossible a natural virus couldn’t have been released from the lab. Just saying this whole spiel is zero evidence for it happenning.

The OT has serious blue balls waiting for their smoking gun.

Pardon my ignorance, but WTF is a WET MARKET?

From the internet: "A wet market is a marketplace selling fresh meat, fish, produce, and other perishable goods as distinguished from "dry markets" that sell durable goods such as fabric and electronics. The term wet market is often used to signify a live animal market in which vendors slaughter animals upon customer purchase."
