Spent all day today cleaning out the garage, putting tools away, etc. it got me wondering what basic tools should every household should have.

Garden tools:
Hoe
Garden rake
Leaf rake
Hedge trimmers
Spade shovel
Flat shovel
Machete

Power tools:
Drill
Skillsaw
Drimel

Automotive tools:
Set wrenches
Set of sockets & ratchet
Set of screwdrivers

Other tools:
Hammer
Tape measure
Level
Pry-bar

What are some other basic tools every household should have?

Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone.

What if you don’t have a garden or yard? Are we still required to have them?

Yes

Along the same lines, a laser level is nice to have, but not a must

Floor jack.
Buffer.

IDK man, I'm 57 and still buying tools. I'm probably not the best one to answer this.

Then you don’t have a house, hence “household”

One tool I’ve yet to buy, but I know me. Once I buy that, then I need all the air driven tools
